Position Summary

This position is located in the Mesa, AZ area and full relocation assistance is being offered for the right candidate.

Bridgestone is committed to reducing its environmental footprint and creating a thriving and sustainable supply chain for all materials. Bridgestone’s Biorubber facilities are a key component of this effort, which includes a Guayule Farm located in Eloy, AZ, and a Guayule Processing Research Center located in Mesa, AZ. This position will be responsible for developing, planning, directing, and managing compliance with health and safety programs for both facilities. This position will be based at the Mesa, AZ location.

Health & Safety work encompasses activities related to the wellbeing of employees including:

• Identifying potential workplace hazards, unsafe equipment, work practices, and working conditions

• Developing and implementing policies and practices to mitigate hazardous conditions within the workplace

• Investigating accidents and liaising with engineers, management, and health and safety regulatory authorities to identify causes of accidents and prevent their recurrence

• Providing advice and training on safety procedures and conducting audits to ensure compliance with organization and government standards related to employee health and safety

• Maintaining and analyzing records of workplace injuries, illness, and absences to identify areas of concern and provide information required by regulatory agencies

• Compile and present data to Senior Management

• Subject Matter Expert and facility resource for Safety and Health responsibilities

• Continually develop and drive a culture of Safety First, Always

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Manage Health and Safety responsibility for 2 sites in the Mesa, AZ area, (Chemical Manufacturing and Agricultural)

  • Develop and implement programs to meet health and safety requirements

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety laws, regulations, and company policy

  • Work closely with all employees to increase safety awareness and drive cultural improvements

  • Develop a high-level understanding of workplace processes and equipment to best discern opportunities for improvement and the elimination of unsafe conditions

  • Conduct Health and Safety assessments to monitor compliance

  • Recommend solution to issues, improvement opportunities, and training materials

  • Must be able to communicate with all levels of the organization

  • Manage and Lead Safety and Health Projects

  • Influences others outside of own job area with policy, programs, and practices

  • Support relationships through strong communication and negotiation skills with internal and external stakeholders

  • Provide training to leadership staff regarding safety regulatory requirements

  • Participate and contribute to Management of Change, Risk Assessments, Process Hazard Analysis processes

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, engineering, or a relevant field

  • Bachelor’s degree; 6+ years of relevant experience including 3-5 years management or direct/indirect leadership experience or Master’s degree; 4+ years of relevant experience including 2-4 years management or direct/indirect leadership experience

  • Strong Computer skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and EHS data management software

Preferred Qualifications

  • Engineering or technical degree

  • 3+ years working in a PSM covered industry

  • Experience with agricultural, chemical, and research work environments

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; 6 y+ years of relevant experience including 3-5 years management or direct/indirect leadership experience
