Novae Corp Corporate Workers' Compensation Manager in Markle, Indiana

Job Summary:Provide oversight and guidance for Workers Compensation programs for all of Novae LLC to ensure regulatory compliance and bring best practices, stability, and continuity among all brands as well as support the oversight, guidance, and adherence for environmental and safety programs for assigned locations. In collaboration with Operations and Human Resources leadership, drive the values of taking care of each other and personal accountability while confirming regulatory compliance throughout the whole Novae LLC organization.

Essential Functions

  • Act as an advocate on behalf of employee in the occupational medical treatment process and guide employees through the process, including Return to Work assignments, if necessary. Oversee medical documentation submissions, complete within acceptable time frames. Contact medical providers to confirm employees work status and restrictions. Interpret, apply, and explain Workers Compensation coverage and benefits to employees.
  • Ensure compliance with Workers Compensation laws at the local, state, and federal levels by training our workforce on expectations and processes, collaborating with training team when necessary, and auditing Workers Compensation processes and documentation at the facility level.
  • Manage Return to Work program and administrate the process; document contacts with employee while away from the workplace on medical or on Return to Work assignments, communicate and document assignments with employees and appropriate leadership, monitor and correct, when needed, the pay process for assignments.
  • Manage incident case files; track claims from filing through claim closure, follow-up with employee and supervisors, support scheduling of appointments and communication, review claims filed by employees for completion and timely submission related to incident
  • Member of the Executive Safety Committee to ensure accuracy of injury related information and share details of the performance of our Workers Compensation insurance carrier.
  • Support leadership with injury investigation process to bring root cause analysis for environmental and safety incidents and near misses. Teach best practices, refine, and ensure consistency across assigned brands.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, OSHA, state, and local regulations across assigned brands by:
  • training our workforce, collaborating with training team when necessary,
  • auditing all environmental, safety, and emergency response plans,
  • monitoring OSHA required programs,
  • reviewing the environmental compliance and safety of processes, equipment, and facilities, making recommendations where needed, and
  • participating in and scheduling mock audits for learning opportunities.
  • Provide information concerning compensation claims for medical or rehabilitation costs for analysis. Make recommendations to programs and processes for continual improvement.
  • Coordinate with payroll personnel concerning pay on days of injury, continuation of pay, or Return to Work hours or absences during Return to Work assignments, reporting to Workers Compensation carrier as requested.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Occupational Safety Management, Industrial Hygiene, or related field, or equivalent demonstrated skills and abilities.
  • Minimum five years of experience within similar role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of Workers Compensation programs, insurance, and applicable laws.
  • Legal and medical terminology related to Workers Compensation and federal regulations.
  • Must be able to travel to all locations; this is likely to be about 10-25% of the time.
