We are hiring for a Manager, Material Specifications in Marshall, MN. In this role you will be responsible for managing a team supporting the setup of materials to include product specifications. This role directly supports data for manufacturing, sales, customers, and research teams with the creation of materials and material specifications, as well as change management of materials and formulations. You would lead the team to ensure accurate, timely and consistent material set up supporting strategic direction as part of the centralized Scientific & Regulatory Affairs and Specification Management team. As a manager, you may represent and actively participate on cross functional project teams for acquisitions, integrations and new product projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team that assigns new material numbers or specifications for finished goods, raw materials and / or subassemblies.

  • Analyze, validate, and make necessary changes to product codes within the ERP system of record; supporting all business units in material master creation, naming convention, standardization, and clean-up efforts enhancing master data standardization.

  • Manage master data deletion process; researching product history, retention guidelines, and departmental usage to prevent data corruption. Maintain standard procedures for the obsoletion process.

  • Set up and monitor reports reviewing data quality ensuring adherence to master data guidelines and identifying errors. Audit material data and specification data for consistency and identify gaps in information.

  • Set standard processes for the team as they develop, review or route for changes to product and product specifications at a raw material, sub-assembly or finished good level.

  • Full end to end knowledge of all aspects of material master including raw data structure, alternative systems master data interfaces to, and how various departments rely upon accurate master data records.

  • Communicate effectively with multiple departments and divisions and be able to reason through complex issues, resolve problems and work well under time constraints.

  • Prioritize job tasks for yourself and others to support business initiatives, reduce waste and grow sales.

  • Develop team member’s individual skill sets to support their goals and grow the knowledge base and capabilities of the department.

  • Participate in system testing, including QA test cases, 1WorldSync releases, and next generation ERP versions.

  • Trouble shoot system error messages for specifications, data sync or those returning GDSN errors. Share any learnings with other team members.

  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines while incorporating problem resolution and offering solutions.

  • Offer guidance on material set up and naming conventions for new production plants, acquisitions, business partners in sales or other future endeavors.

  • Any other duties commensurate with the level of the role to ensure smooth running of the material master and specification team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • 5+ years of experience in food industry, manufacturing, or material management environment required. Experience with acquisitions would be ideal. Understanding of an ERP system and data analysis through education or experience. Previous experience managing people and/or large projects.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with multiple departments and business units.

  • Able to reason through complex issues, resolve problems and work well under time constraints.

  • Offer solutions to product set up on acquisitions.

  • Detail oriented with good analytical skills; formulating, adhering and enforcing consistent standards.

  • Working knowledge of an ERP system.

  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Strong communicator with good interpersonal skills.

  • Team player and self-motivated.

  • Ability to deliver on time to commitments.

  • Manage work streams and set priorities.

  • Develop and support individual contributors.
