Entry level for employees who develop proficiency in GPS Procedural work and expertise in Application work by combining hands-on experimentation with scientific principles and knowledge from science/engineering education to drive foundational technical understanding and tackle technical problems. Delivers technical outputs which address critical innovation challenges and completion of key achievements. May own part of a testing program. Able to independently formulate hypothesis, design experiments to test it, interpret complex data, write reports and publications, communicate results in the business context, including at external events. Has mastered the basic regulatory and systems fundamentals in their capability area (registration, INCI, system management, ingredient and product compliance checks) or has technical mastery in a science area based on their educational background. May resolve regulatory strategies to support new initiatives or protect current business/formulations in the market, and defining GTM IMPs. Where appropriate, works with Distributors on regulatory compliance matters.

Job Qualifications

We are seeking an Associate Scientist/Scientist with a strong background in experimental biology and/or analytical chemistry as well as consistent track record of teamwork capability. The ideal candidate should have extensive biological laboratory experiences including mammalian cell culture, chemical handling as well as data compilation and analysis. Important responsibilities of this position include:

  • Work closely with research team members and conduct in-vitro biological testing for eye safety research.

  • Contribute to experimental design, new method development, compile and analyze data using excel and graphing software (e.g. GraphPad Prism).

  • Maintenance of analytical equipment including management of instrument service agreements.

  • Collaborate with stake holders to lead the process of safety study placements from start to finish, including purchase order management, study protocols review, test materials preparation, etc.

  • Be an active member of both safety research group (SIG) and study placement group (SMT).

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in life sciences or chemistry with strong wet lab experience is a mandatory requirement.

Previous wet lab experience on in-vitro testing methods is desirable. Specific lab experiences required are:

  • Mammalian cell culture in aseptic conditions;

  • Chemical handling and analytical measurements;

  • Data compilation and analysis.

  • Lab safety compliance.

Demonstrated attention to detail is critical. Must be able to critically evaluate sophisticated data sets and apply innovative approaches to solve sophisticated analytical and testing questions.

Knowledge and experience of safety/regulatory safety testing is preferred.

Must have excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate data to others with diverse technical backgrounds, including within and across functions and management levels.

Must have excellent collaboration skills and the ability to develop positive relationships across functions and geographies spanning various levels in the organization.

Must have excellent adaptability and flexibility, and most importantly excellent learning capabilities with open mindset.

You will be working with the Company experts in safety testing. You will learn new in-vitro testing methods and how the results are used in our ingredient/product safety assessments. You will apply your analytical skills to learn new methods to characterize safety profiles from in-vitro testing assays. You will be able to contribute to the safety evaluation of key company products.

At the same time, you will also be leading external safety study placement. You will learn project management skills and develop a broad understanding of product safety regulations and standard testing guidelines/requirements.

Limited travel; less than 5% of time. Internal and external training opportunities available.
