We are looking for a dedicated Junior Land Surveyor to grow with our collaborative team and work on a variety of land development projects.

  • Perform field surveying tasks under the direction of a Party Chief.

  • Operate and adjust surveying instruments including GPS, total stations, and levels.

  • Produce quality raw field data with clear and concise field notes with attention to detail.

  • Work outdoors in variable weather and environmental conditions.

  • Perform some office duties including data download, field notes, keeping good receipt records for expense reports, mileage logs, and daily safety logs.

  • Follow Jacobs’s safety protocols.

  • Preserve and enhance the Jacobs brand through knowledge and experience, presenting yourself as a professional at all times.

This is a field position that has the following physical demands over a 10-hour period daily when working onsite.

  • Requires physical exertion in various conditions of climate and hilly and hard asphalt/concrete terrain.

  • Requires long periods of standing, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities.

  • Requires recurring lifting of moderately heavy items (50 lbs.) such as surveying equipment and related surveying field items.

  • Requires general physical and mental characteristics and abilities leading to above-average agility and dexterity, adaptability, to different field conditions, knowledge of safety protocols and procedures.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • High School diploma

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Ability to pass drug screening and background checks

  • Out of town will be required (approximately 50%)

  • Dependable, reliable and self-motivated to show up for work at a given designated start time

Ideally, you'll also have:

  • Experience in Leica and Trimble surveying equipment

  • An understanding of GDOT coding list

  • UAV operation and remote pilot license

  • Experience in locating and marking underground utilities

  • Experience in routing surveys, railroad, topographic mapping, laser scanning, or other infrastructure surveys

  • Land Surveyor in Training (LSIT)
