Job Summary:

The Raytheon business unit of RTX has an opportunity for a Field Supplier Quality Engineer (FSQE) position in the North Central Region of the United States. The FSQE is the primary quality interface between Raytheon and the external supply base. The FSQE provides both communication of requirements and performance feedback to the supplier as well as being a conduit for Quality information back to internal functions.

The FSQE role includes execution of Supplier Assessments, Supplier Engagements, Special Process Management and Contract Review/Requirement Flowdowns. The FSQE will ensure that our supply base meets Raytheon’s flowdown quality requirements prior to shipment. They will work proactively with suppliers and program contacts to identify risk mitigation strategies for critical suppliers, review product for conformance, deploy third party resources where appropriate, and actively participate in RCCA and supplier improvement engagements. This position requires a thorough understanding and experience with the application of both Quality and Technical Data Package requirements across a variety of commodities.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Assessing subcontractor/supplier quality capabilities throughout the program life cycle to achieve full program objectives.

  • Monitoring assigned suppliers’ performance and proactively addressing gaps to 100% quality.

  • Collaborating with programs and suppliers to understand requirements, develop and implement performance improvement plans, incorporate quality improvement tools, and mitigate risk.

  • Planning and performing Source Inspections and verifying AS9102 First Article Inspections and product acceptance testing.

  • Providing oversight, guidance, and direction to contracted 3rd-party source inspectors.

  • Leading Quality Management System (QMS) Audits and product and process verification assessments to assess supplier capabilities and achieve action closure.

  • Participating in supplier design reviews and problem resolution during program design and execution phases.

This position is currently designated as on-site. The Field Supplier Quality Engineer must live in or adjacent to the location of McKinney, TX and within 50 miles of a major international airport. Travel is expected 40-60% of the time.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior experience in Quality or Supplier Management.

  • Experience with commercial and aerospace / defense regulations and standards - AS9100, AS9102, ISO-9000, AS9145.

  • Experience with Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs), Printed Wire Board (PWB), Wire/Cable Harnesses, Transformers, Electrical Items, Complex Assemblies, and/or Machining.

  • Experience in quality planning, supplier product inspections, and supplier monitoring and improvement skills: APQP, PPAP, SPC, RCCA, Process FMEA, Six Sigma, etc.

  • Valid US Driver’s License.

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Desired Skills:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering / Technical or MBA

  • High Reliability CCA/PWB inspection experience and/or certification (J-STD-001 or IPC 610).

  • Experience with assembly/manufacturing processes, integration, and test operations and procedures in support of high-reliability products.

  • Experience and knowledge of military product development phases.

  • Self-managed technical engineer who possesses excellent communication skills, exhibits presence and influence, establishes effective working relationships with multiple suppliers / customers, and manages high-pressure situations to arrive at creative solutions.

  • Six Sigma, Lean and / or ASQ certifications (CQA, CQE, CQM/OE, etc.)

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
