The MITRE Corporate Real Estate (CRE) team is focused on developing and maintaining the physical infrastructure and supporting business processes to ensure that close to 10,000 MITRE staff have the facilities and capabilities they need to continue to have impact and value across our federal sponsors. Actively and enthusiastically engaged in managing over 2.5M square feet of useable space, the CRE team has an aggressive but satisfying portfolio of challenges and oversees multiple projects that create new capabilities, enable classified operations, and enhance the utility of available space. These projects span the spectrum from short-term, 3-to-4-month efforts to multi-year large-scale construction projects. The facilities that the team creates and maintains are designed to ensure that MITRE’s R&D centers create lasting impact in fields as diverse as cybersecurity, healthcare, aviation, defense, and enterprise transformation.

The Corporate Real Estate team is seeking a Master Scheduler who will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and updating the overall, integrated, and coordinated multi-project schedule. Projects will include (but are not limited to) construction, Special Program Facilities and other facility projects, moves, occupancy planning initiatives, development of reporting tools, leasing and transaction schedules, and facility maintenance programs. This individual will be part of the Corporate Real Estate Operations team and will create tools to identify and analyze project dependencies, manage resource allocation, monitor progress, and implement adjustments as needed to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget, while constantly collaborating with project managers and other key stakeholders to coordinate complex project timelines.

To succeed in this role, a candidate should have excellent time management, self-discipline, adaptability, collaborative communication skills, as well as demonstrated recent experience providing scheduling support to multiple ongoing and planned projects within a large organization. The Master Scheduler will report directly to the CRE Operations Manager and will collaborate across Corporate Real Estate and its customers to enable MITRE’s mission and strategy.

This position is hybrid and will require someone who can be on site three days per week at our McLean campus.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage an integrated master schedule for all projects or operations, considering dependencies, constraints, and resource availability.

  • Collaborate with project managers, department managers, and stakeholders to understand project requirements, objectives, and milestones.

  • Identify and assess risks, issues, and conflicts that may impact the schedule, and develop mitigation plans.

  • Regularly update and maintain the master schedule by incorporating changes, updates, and adjustments as necessary.

  • Monitor project progress and identify any deviations from the schedule, taking proactive measures to address delays or other issues.

  • Conduct regular meetings and discussions with CRE leadership and project teams to review and analyze project status, identify bottlenecks, and recommend solutions.

  • Provide accurate and timely reports, dashboards, and visualizations that communicate project status, key metrics, and performance indicators to management and stakeholders.

  • Continuously improve scheduling processes, tools, and methodologies to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

  • Train and mentor project team members on best practices for schedule management and adherence.

  • Collaborate with procurement and resource management teams to ensure alignment between the schedule and resource allocation.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify critical paths, analyze complex data, and make informed decisions.

  • Proficiency in project management software, such as Microsoft Project or Primavera P6, to develop and manage schedules.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate and coordinate with diverse teams and stakeholders.

  • Exceptional organization and time management skills to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in maintaining and updating schedules.

  • Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to changing priorities and requirements.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and motivate teams to achieve project goals.

  • Knowledge of project management methodologies and best practices.

  • Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools, such as Excel or Tableau, to generate reports and metrics.

  • Strong self-organization and time management skills, with considerable emphasis on self-initiation, independent decision making, accuracy, adaptability, decisiveness and follow through on a broad range of administrative support tasks.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, engineering, or a related field.

  • Proven experience as a Master Scheduler or similar role, preferably in a project-based environment.

  • Understanding of critical path method (CPM) and work breakdown structure (WBS) principles and practices.

  • Certification in project management, such as PMP (Project Management Professional), is highly desirable.

  • Proficient in the use of project management software.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex schedules in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

  • Strong knowledge of project management principles, methodologies, and tools.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

  • Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in maintaining and updating schedules.
