Summary Description

This role is responsible for leading a team of data analysts and ensuring that the data they produce is accurate, relevant, and actionable. They work with stakeholders to understand their needs and use data to make informed decisions.

Essential Job Functions / Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform day-to-day client, program, and people management for the Data Analytics Team.

  • Manage project execution, staff allocations, and capacity tooling across the Data Analytics team.

  • Manage applicable service and product offerings to ensure scope and profitability of work.

  • Manage the successful completion of client work (reports, analysis, dashboards, etc.) to ensure work is delivered on time, on budget, and is technically sound, factually accurate, and ensuring overall client satisfaction.

  • Manage the supervision of the data submission, technical processes. and ongoing improvements of reports to national and global reporting organizations, such as GRESB, United Nations Principles of Responsible Property Investing, Carbon Disclosure Project, and ENERGY STAR.

  • Collaborate across practice areas and with client managers to ensure RE Tech works across teams to meet the needs of clients and to deliver and execute robust ESG and climate programs.

  • Identify the need for and the opportunity to create, standardize, and/or improve processes and work products to maximize efficiency.

  • Perform all people management responsibilities including hiring, performance reviews, coaching, identifying staffing needs, and fostering an inclusive & positive team culture.

  • Develop processes to ensure appropriate skill building and development for new hires and existing team members.

  • Lead by example, establish best in class standards.

  • Technical Leadership

  • Drive decision-making regarding RE Tech data architecture, models, tools, & processes with the intent of improving Data Analytics efficiencies, quality, and breadth of deliverables.

  • Provide oversight & direction for designing and deploying data pipelines & workflows, collaborating with the team on automating such workflows in a cloud computing environment, and creating multi-dimensional data models and structures for analysis and dashboard/report development.

  • Manage the development of new statistical approaches, models, and other analytical tools to further strengthen RE Tech’s ability to document, examine, and communicate our clients’ performance.

  • Project manages innovation projects that the data team executes.

  • Manage the design, development, and deployment of interactive reports and dashboards with BI tools such as Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools.

  • Manage quality control processes for complex data sets and identify issues or anomalies in accuracy, completeness, reliability, and timeliness.

  • Support new service offerings and work to enhance current service offerings to implement growth opportunities for the data team.

  • Collaborate with RE Tech ESG project managers, practice areas and clients to identify project requirements and design cost effective, data-driven solutions.

  • Properly and accurately track all your time worked and expenses. Input on time in the expense and time keeping system, billing to the correct codes, and using the correct labor categories.

  • Know and follow company policies and processes.

  • Perform all other duties as needed and assigned.

  • Advanced knowledge of data analytics best practices and methods regarding ETL, data wrangling, modeling, analytics, performance tuning and visualizations.

  • Advanced knowledge of analytics tools such as Python, SQL, Alteryx, Tableau, PowerBI, etc.

  • Advanced knowledge with online collaboration and file sharing tools, such as SharePoint and the Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).

Required Education and/or Experience

  • Minimum of 7 years of direct professional experience in data analytics and visualization in a consulting environment.

  • Minimum of 2 years of people management experience, preferably in a consulting environment.

  • Demonstrated skills in researching, analyzing, managing, and reporting KPIs and metrics for a diverse set of audiences, preferably in the energy and sustainability industry (financial energy consumption, water use, waste management, greenhouse gas emissions, etc.).

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize workload and manage competing priorities.

  • Demonstrated skills and knowledge in data pipelines, models, and visualization best practices, techniques, and tools.

  • Experience supporting sustainability, ESG, energy and/or decarbonization programs is a plus.

  • Experience with Jira is a plus.

Travel Requirements

Periodic travel is required for the role. Travel may include travel to RE Tech offices, if remote, or between RE Tech offices (Fairfax VA and Dallas, Texas) for meetings (estimate of four times per year), as well as for Legence and/or client business needs.
