Kaiser Permanente Registered Vascular Technologist II, On Call in McLean, Virginia

Job Summary:

Responsible for conducting non-invasive vascular studies including ultrasound.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Performs non-invasive vascular studies on patients with cerebrovascular, arterial, and venous problems in Vascular Laboratory to include complete examination of carotid and vertebral systems (upper and lower extremity arterial and venous systems and arteriovenous fistulae).

  • Prepares diagnostic testing protocols for patients with cerebrovascular, arterial, and venous disease.

  • Reviews patient histories and physicals for pertinent information aiding in final evaluation of test data through knowledge of cerebrovascular, arterial and venous diseases.

  • Prepares test data for analysis.

  • Maintains equipment and vascular database.

  • Computes and interprets statistical parameters associated with diagnostic test validation, including sensitivity, specificity and accuracy.

  • Performs various office functions including screening consults before appointment service; schedules patients, orders supplies and contacts service departments of respective ultrasound companies when equipment needs maintenance.

  • Establishes and maintains courteous, cooperative relations with public, patients, and other personnel.

  • Performs other related duties and accepts responsibility as assigned.

10 hour shift - Monday and Fridays preferred.

Basic Qualifications:

Experience

  • Minimum one (1) year of vascular experience required.

  • Minimum one (1) year of ultrasound experience required.

  • Per the National Agreement, current KP Coalition employees have this experience requirement waived.

Education

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.

  • Graduate from approved ultrasound training program recognized by CAHEA required.

License, Certification, Registration

  • Basic Life Support

  • Registered Vascular Technician Certificate

Additional Requirements:

  • Travel required to locations in MD, VA and DC as needed.

  • Demonstrated sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities in area of specialization and appropriate to age groups served.

  • Knowledge with basic epidemiology of prominent disease processes of cerebrovascular, arterial and venous systems, including knowledge of risk factors.

  • Knowledge and competency in following: Physics of ultrasound waves and their interaction with human tissue for evaluation of blood flow in vessels and imaging of blood vessels; Principles of operation, signals and information provided by all commonly used vascular diagnostic equipment; Anatomy, physiology, and hemodynamics of cerebrovascular, arterial and venous systems.

  • Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
