As a Sr. Software Engineer - Android, you will have an opportunity to reach our customers in unique, personal and engaging ways. We operate in small, productive agile teams and use the best industry tools to collaborate across teams.

Who Are We:

Enterprise Platforms Technology (EPTech) comprises many of Capital One’s most important enterprise platforms. We play an essential role in establishing practices for building technology solutions across the company, while also delivering capabilities that exemplify those practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Spearhead the development and maintaining secure user authentication systems on the Android platform, including features like logins, account management, biometric verification, and data protection, often requiring expertise in Android development, security protocols, and digital identity best practices.

  • Collaborate closely with Software Engineers, UX/UI designers, Quality Engineers, and Product Owners/Analysts to craft high-performing, engaging, and purposeful customer experiences that exemplify simplicity and excellence.

  • Actively engage in all team agile ceremonies, ensuring timely delivery of all commitments while maintaining the highest standards of quality.

  • Serve as a vocal advocate for the mobile platform within both internal and external developer communities, fostering knowledge sharing and innovation.

  • Continuously expand expertise in mobile development technologies, with a particular emphasis on Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, while also staying informed about relevant third-party libraries and tools.

  • Lead discussions and provide valuable contributions to team initiatives, incorporating feedback from diverse stakeholders.

  • Mentor junior and mid-level team members, fostering their growth and development in Android platform engineering and design system methodologies.

  • Collaborate closely with developers across various disciplines (Android, iOS, APIs, Web, etc.), fostering a culture of cross-functional collaboration and learning.

  • Take ownership of delivering major platform components and functionalities, working closely with Senior Engineers and Architects to ensure alignment with architectural vision and engineering excellence.

  • Drive the adoption of best practices and process improvements within and across sprint teams, continuously striving for operational efficiency and excellence.

  • Proactively identify technical challenges and work collaboratively with the team to devise innovative solutions, promoting a culture of problem-solving and creativity.

  • Conduct thorough reviews of pull requests, ensuring adherence to Kotlin, and providing constructive feedback to enhance code quality and maintainability.

What you can expect to be doing.

  • Extensive experience in Android development, with a deep understanding of modern Android app design methodologies.

  • Proficiency in Kotlin and Coroutines.

  • Designing and implementing secure authentication methods by Integrating biometric authentication (fingerprint, facial recognition), multi-factor authentication (MFA), and other secure login mechanisms into Android applications.

  • Developing Android SDKs for identity verification by creating reusable components that allow other developers to easily incorporate robust identity verification features into their Android apps.

  • Integrating with backend identity systems to connect Android apps to centralized identity management platforms to handle user registration, login, and session management.

  • Staying updated with security standards and keeping abreast of evolving security threats and industry best practices related to digital identity management.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • At least 3 years of professional software engineering experience (Internship experience does not apply)

  • At least 2 years of experience testing Android applications

  • At least 2 years of experience with Kotlin

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience testing Android applications

  • 3+ years of experience with Kotlin and coroutines

  • 1+ years of experience with JetPack Compose

  • 1+ years of experience Digital Identity and Authentication for Android applications
