MITRE’s Enterprise Business Systems and Operations Division (EBSOD) focuses on delivering and supporting systems and processes to enable our leaders and employees to deliver impact, make data driven business decisions, and find opportunities. MITRE EBSOD is seeking a Systems Engineer to focus on providing Systems, Test and Operational Engineering expertise to MITRE’s Enterprise Business Systems and Operations Division. MITRE is looking for someone to join a team with diverse skillsets and help enhance these skillsets and contribute to the transformation of our corporate infrastructure across systems such as AWS Cloud, Clarity, Costpoint, Salesforce, Workday, Denodo, Tableau, Cognos.

The engineer will ensure an integrated set of End-to-End Requirements, concept of operations, workflows standards and guidance with an emphasis on Usability, Performance, Functionality.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Provide T&E and operations subject matter expertise as teams evolve and apply testing best practices. Evaluate, recommend, and implement test techniques, tools, and strategies; provide testing knowledge and understanding for the support of user requirements of complex software/hardware applications

  • Solve problems across the MITRE corporate domain (e.g., Finance, HR, ECIS, Sectors)

  • Ensure robust test data preparation and management processes and practices

  • Support EBSOD leaders in defining and implementing their T&E Strategies, leveraging Agile

  • Respond to outage alerts, investigate for signs of degraded performance and react accordingly

  • Track and document outage and negative performance events and incidents in a ticketing system

  • Analyze log data for signs of performance issues across cloud, endpoints and servers

  • Master usage of tools to conduct investigations – including Splunk, Tableau, ZenDesk, network analyzers

  • Develop new analytics and apply mitigations ensuring successful test activities and operations

  • Develop future system level integrated test and operational requirements and review test requirements analysis packages and sensor test evidence

  • Collect, consolidate, and convey requirements and information from stakeholders leading to documentation and training materials in support of the enterprise, sectors and users

  • Generate test plans, procedures, and reports based off of program input and participate and document real-time test reviews

  • Contribute to technical test engineering studies to inform test planning decisions

  • Perform engineering assessments of system development, testing, and integration

  • Monitors the Information Technology infrastructure within an organization, including endpoints, clouds, servers, networks as well as server applications and software

    Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer, Engineering, Systems Engineering or related major and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree with relevant experience who can immediately contribute at this job step; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.

  • Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain a US government clearance (Secret/TS)

  • Experience evaluating, recommending, and implementing test techniques, tools, and strategies

  • Demonstrated ability to independently bring new, innovative solutions to corporate challenges, strategically advocate for new approaches, and in a team with loosely defined objectives

  • Documented success applying principles of test and evaluation to systems and enterprise systems

  • Proficient problem-solving skills and capability to collaborate with scientists, analysts, technical experts, and subject matter experts across several technical disciplines

  • Desire to learn new techniques and approaches while on-the-job by leveraging structured educational content, published research, and expertise from team members

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Knowledge of software development methods, including Agile, HTML/PHP, visual basic

  • This position has an on-site requirement of 4 days a week on-site

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics or relevant technical discipline

  • Experience testing software applications and cloud-based architectures

  • Experience working with systems integration, Agile and/or software development methodologies

  • Experience with infrastructure and functional systems such as Clarity, Costpoint, Salesforce, Workday
