MD Anderson Cancer Center Postdoctoral Fellow - Gastroenterology Research in MDA-On-Site, United States
Our program focuses on the entire spectrum of pancreatic diseases with the goal of advancing our knowledge of the pancreas in health and disease, both benign and malignant through clinical epidemiologic research. For example, we have ongoing studies on immune-checkpoint inhibitor-induced pancreatic abnormalities, the effect of neo-adjuvant therapy on diabetes associated with pancreatic cancer, and natural history of incidental pancreatic calcification.
The position requires a physician with a basic understanding of pancreatic diseases, the ability to organize and abstract data from electronic health records and to be able to analyze and interpret data
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
- Objective: Trainee will learn to search the literature for prior knowledge of the subject of research
Outcome: Trainee will provide a list of publications that have examined the question under investigation and summarize the information
- Objective: Trainee will learn data abstraction and analyses.
Outcome: Trainee will learn to determine what data elements are needed for the study. He/she will learn to set up a RedCap or Excel database to capture these elements. He/she will learn how to find the necessary data elements in the electronic medical records and abstract data from them.
- Objective: Trainee will learn to perform basic data analysis.
Outcome: Trainee will start by familiarizing him/herself with features of Excel, especially its statistical package; learn to use basic Excel-based statistical evaluations; learn when to use the various statistical evaluations. When more proficient he/she will use GraphPad and more advanced statistical software

MD Anderson follows the NIH stipend levels as outlined by the Kirchstein - NRSA (https://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-OD-23-076.html) . This full-time trainee position will provide a salary between $56,484 to $68,604, dependent upon the years of postgraduate experience.
