Job Description Custodian Position Description This full-time position maintains the cleanliness of the library building and property, keeping them safe and welcoming. This involves cleaning all areas of the Library and monitoring the facility's needs. Related work as required or as the situation demands:

Physical Requirements ? Demonstrate dexterity for janitorial and maintenance tasks, including using custodial equipment and manual and power tools. ? Occasionally lift equipment or containers up to 75 lbs. ? Climb ladders and stairs. Responsibilities 1. Complete daily cleaning tasks, including: a. Empty wastebaskets and remove all trash. Assist in the disposal of discarded items. b. Mop, strip, and wax floors and stairways. Vacuum carpeted floors. c. Dust shelves, books, baseboards, file cabinets, window ledges, and other fixtures. Clean woodwork, furniture, and equipment. Clean interior windows and walls. d. Cleans and disinfects sinks, toilets, and other fixtures. Clean and polish drinking fountains and mirrors. Stocks restrooms with towels, tissues, and soap. Clean up spills and overflows. e. Exterior cleaning, weeding, and minor maintenance. 2. Order supplies and materials 3. Coordinate with and inform the library staff on work issues. 4. Maintain routine daily, weekly, monthly, and annual equipment maintenance and inspection logs of the equipment including electrical, air conditioning, plumbing, security, and other equipment in and around the building to ensure that all equipment is working properly. 5. Performs repair tasks such as changing light bulbs. 6. Assists with moving and assembling furniture and other equipment. 7. Contact and meet with contractors to obtain estimates for maintenance projects. 8. Respond to after-hours building emergencies. 9. Perform other duties as assigned.
