*POSITION SUMMARY: *

The Labor Birth Postpartum Assistant Nurse Manager is fully engaged in providing Product Excellence, Delight, Access, Ease and Convenience, and Customer Cost by improving efficiency and performance in accessibility and patient flow and including evaluation of patient care on assigned shift for the Labor Birth and Postpartum departments.

*PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES: *

1. Ensures patient and staff safety.
2. Contributes to the patient experience as evidenced by positive patient satisfaction scores and HCAHPS scores for department.
3. Performs those clinical skills within the scope of practice of a registered nurse in the State of Florida for which competencies have been validated.
4. Demonstrates ability to provide patient care utilizing nursing process as evidenced by documentation of process and discharge planning.
5. Ensures current knowledge and competency in appropriate clinical skills. Documents attendance at clinical and management continuing education programs to ensure that knowledge base is current and to promote professional growth and development.
6. Ensures adequate training and appropriate use of the electronic medical record in compliance with established policies, procedures, and expectations
7. Ensures consistent performance of purposeful hourly or team rounding, bedside shift report and no pass zones.
8. Communicates unit, staff, and equipment needs and concerns to Manager/Director as appropriate.
9. Monitors and ensures compliance with staffing guidelines.
   10. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team on ease of accessing care, education, information, and initiatives improving Women’s and Children’s care.**

*MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: *

• Education: o BSN required o OR, conditional and time limited waiver for BSN requirement may apply to internal associates who complete their BSN within three (3) years of transition to new role. o OR external candidates may apply who are currently enrolled in a BSN program to complete within two (2) years of hire.
• Licensure: o Current, active State of Florida RN license or endorsement.
• Certification: o Must hold and maintain current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Completion card upon transfer/start date. o AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Provider Completion Card within 90 days of transfer/start and maintain. o AHA Neonatal Resuscitation Program Completion Card within 90 days of transfer/start date and maintain. o Certification in clinical specialty preferred.
• Work Experience: o Two (2) years of acute care clinical experience. o Progressive leadership or previous nursing management experience preferred. o Two (2) years of Labor and Delivery clinical experience preferred.

• Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: o Knowledge of TJC (The Joint Commission), Florida Nurse Practice Act and other applicable agency regulations. o Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook). o Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to educate and speak/understand written and verbal communications in the English language. o Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building along with active listening skills to listen analyze needs from various ages and levels of education. o Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills with ability to access and interpret data to educate members of the healthcare team. o Sound time management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities. o Maintains professional competencies by attending continuing education programs and participating in professional organizations. o Ability to respond appropriately to life-threatening/emergent situations.

  *PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: *

• Physically agile; may require walking, standing running, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing or crouching frequently.

• Medium work that may include lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, with or without assistance.
• May require moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces, including reaching out and above shoulders or overhead.
• May lift, turn, pull, push, or ambulate people and/or equipment with or without assistance up to 90% of the assigned shift.
• May be exposed to inside and outside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting and/or low to loud noise.
• May require working with biohazards such as blood/body fluids and airborne particles following OSHA and CDC Guidelines.
• Communicating with others to exchange information.
• Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks.
• Workspace may vary from open to confined; on site or remote.
• May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
