Health First Director of Finance - Medical Group in Melbourne, Florida

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is the key financial liaison to the respective divisional executive of the assigned areas of responsibility and supports operational leaders in reducing costs and maximizing revenues. This position has overall responsibility for forecasting, budgeting, financial statement analysis, and presentation in each assigned division; is responsible for coordination with the Corporate Accounting team for accurate financial reporting; monitors, interprets and analyzes financial performance in realizing established plans and objectives; and identifies and reports undesirable trends and potential business opportunities and makes recommendations for action.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Develop plans to support leadership of the assigned division, including financial forecasts, revenue projections, financial analysis, capital planning, productivity and benchmarking, and financial operations.
  2. Prepare necessary supporting documentation and justification.
  3. Direct financial activities by establishing and /or recommending to management major corporate economic strategies, objectives, and policies for the assigned areas.
  4. Regularly attend operational meetings in assigned areas and proactively support, report on, and provide recommendations to enhance operational performance improvement plans.
  5. Assume the lead role in analyzing, exploring and recommending means to reduce operating costs and increase net revenues based financial reports and statistical information.
  6. Develop and oversee the month-end close processes with responsibility for appropriate system collaboration in assigned areas.
  7. Overall responsibility for the financial statements for assigned areas. This includes verifying that all adjustments posted are accurate as well as verifying that all adjustments needed are recorded.
  8. Ensure timely compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and directives from regulatory agencies and third-party payers where appropriate.
  9. Overall responsibility for partnering with operations to accurately complete the operational forecasts as well as the capital budgets, including supporting various ROI, proforma, and other analytic requests needed to prepare accurate projections.
    1. Ensure timely and appropriate responses to requests for information and support.
    2. Responsible for filing divisional statutory reporting and completing divisional financial audits where applicable.
    3. May have direct oversight of associates and responsible to recruit, hire, retain, grow and actively engage them to increase performance.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education:Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related field, from an accredited college or university.

  • *Work Experience: * o Ten years of finance and/or accounting experience. o Five years leadership experience if the position has direct people leadership responsibilities, may be concurrent.

  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: o Expert knowledge in Microsoft Office – Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint. o Expert knowledge of the use of software packages such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, computer-based accounting package. o Strong computer and analytical abilities. o Excellent communication skills both verbal and written. o Strong interpersonal relationships skills in interacting well with all customers, peers, and management. o Excellent prioritization and organizational skills. o Ability to handle stressful and dynamic work situations while contributing to a team environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education:Master’s in Business Administration.
  • Licensure:No additional.
  • Certification:Certified Professional Accountant.
  • Work Experience:Finance work experience in a large health care system.
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:PeopleSoft Financial experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Majority of time involves sitting or standing; occasional walking, bending, stooping.
  • Long periods of computer time or at workstation.
  • Light work that may include lifting or moving objects up to 20 pounds with or without assistance.
  • May be exposed to inside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting and/or low to moderate noise.
  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks.
  • Workspace may vary from open to confined; on site or remote.
  • May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
