Job Description:

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Material Specialist responsible for providing administrative support to the material management function. This role supports the Surveillance & Automation Solutions division within the Mission Networks Business and reports to the Manager of Material Management. This role is located onsite at our Melbourne, FL facility.

Essential Functions:

  • Ability to assist the lead material manager completing assigned tasks with limited supervision from management.

  • Assists with planning, scheduling, and monitoring the efficient movement of material and IT equipment from receiving at the Columbus, OH centralized warehouse to the integration facility and ultimately, to be deployed nationwide in support of FAA enterprise networks.

  • Collaborates with engineering and the Program office to coordinate material Engineering Material Request (EMR) creation and ordering with Procurement and Subcontracts departments.

  • Identify process improvements and facilitate implementation.

  • Ability to learn multiple systems including a document management system, shipping system, and other various system tools.

  • Provides administrative support and assistance to the material manager with the overall management of inventory in terms of supporting the projects’ integration and deployment schedules, maintaining proper Spares levels and managing material and equipment obsolescence.

  • Support quarterly inventory cycle counting and/or reconciliation audits with the program financials.

  • Assist with monitoring and reconciling any relevant Supply Chain disruptions that develop throughout the program lifecycle.

  • Participates on projects/teams as assigned.

  • Expected to support cost saving initiatives and support of overall Supply Chain performance metrics focused in the areas of inventory reduction and kits shipped without material shortages.

  • Communicates material status/results accurately and concisely to a wide audience.

  • Assists lead material manager with developing and maintaining plans, schedules and budgets for assigned projects. Assists material manager with preparing for periodic management reviews as required to give management visibility on the status and progress of assigned projects.

    Qualifications:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.

    Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Prior work experience with telecom, managed service providers or IT equipment providers a plus.

  • Possesses clear and effective oral and written communications skills.

  • A problem solver – capable of making decisions to resolve issues.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of MRP Systems, Inventory Management best practices, & Material and Inventory forecasting.

  • Preferred technical competencies include a full understanding of the CONTROL MRP System (Cincom product), Agile PDM tool, PeopleSoft Financials tool, IT Networks Equipment and Software.
