Canon USA & Affiliates Tax Accountant in Melville, New York

About the Role

Located in Melville, N.Y., the Income Tax Accountant (Accountant, Tax) will maintain tax records, prepare federal, state and local income tax returns, related schedules, and related reports. This position is full time and offers a hybrid work schedule requiring you to be in the office Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and an option to work from home the remainder of the week (unless a specific business need arises requiring in office attendance on other days). Note that work schedules and office reporting requirements may change from time to time based on business needs.

Your Impact

  • Prepare supporting work papers in conjunction with various income tax filings

  • Assist in the preparation of income tax returns. Perform analyses of tax sensitive general ledger accounts

  • Complete electronic payments of estimated taxes

  • Prepare journal entries to record various tax related transactions such as payments, completed income tax returns, etc.

  • Research tax rules and regulations as needed and stay current with changes in tax law

  • Possesses specialized knowledge or skills in a particular functional area

  • An entry-level professional learning the functions of the job role

  • Receives general instruction from manager on expected work outcomes

  • Uses professional education to identify, analyze and resolve issues and interpret company policy

  • Typically reports to a Manager, but may report to a senior professional individual contributor when business needs dictate

About You: The Skills & Expertise You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent experience required, plus 0 to 2 years of related tax experience

  • Requires general tax accounting work experience and knowledge of GAAP

  • OneSource experience a plus

  • Advanced Excel skills a plus

  • Ability to work independently and interact well with others CPA preferred but not required

The company will not pursue or support visa sponsorship for this position.

In accordance with applicable law, we are providing the anticipated base salary range for this role: $69,300 - $103,770 annually
