AutoZone, Inc. Visual Merchandiser in Memphis, Tennessee

AutoZone's Visual Merchandiser will have the primary functions of:

  • Develop and implement visual presentation strategies that will meet the needs of our consumers and increase sales at the category level. This is done by analyzing market, store, and item level KPI data (leveraging JDA Channel Clustering and other analytical software applications) in conjunction with broad category knowledge.

  • Design planograms leveraging the above mentioned strategies in conjunction with visual merchandising "best practices". Draft these planograms using "JDA Space Planning" software and write detailed merchandising communications to guide in store implementation.

  • Work cross functionally to ensure timely and flawless implementation for all aspects of the planogram schedule including; DC order to quantities, SKU set up, item disposition, recall information, planogram store labor, retail changes, and cost changes.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitate planogram schedules from category review to in store planogram dates. This includes a high degree of cross-functional communication to ensure timelines and tasks are completed on time and accurately prior to the planogram release. This requires strong organizational, project management and communication skills ( both verbal and written).

  • Works to analyze planogram to store relationships, product to planogram relationships, planogram performance and item performance.

  • Leverages this analysis to make sound business decisions regarding product presentation, inventory allocation, store payroll allocation, and product add/keep/delete decisions.

  • Holds a broad business knowledge for three to five categories, and be able to leverage this knowledge in conjunction with AutoZone's Visual Presentation Standards to design product presentations, fixture configurations (and fixture designs), and in-store marketing materials that support these categories and meet the needs of our customers.

  • Drafts 300 to 600 planograms (per year) utilizing "JDA Space Planning" software.

  • Requires a robust knowledge of both "JDA Space Planning" software and several internal AutoZone systems such as Rocket, CICS, SQL, Space Automation, Excel, and Access.

  • Creates detailed store communications that include directions on how to implement planogram, merchandising, and marketing initiatives.

  • These communications require photos, detailed explanations and directions, and step by step procedures for all stores.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Level of Formal Education: Bachelor's degree (BA, BS) or equivalent.

  • Area of Study: Marketing, Merchandising, Business Administration

  • Years of Experience: Two to three years.

  • Type of Experience: Merchandising, Retail Management (in a Planogram Environment), Space Management, or Visual Presentation

  • Special Certifications or Technical Skills: Project management experience, Analytical experience, intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel, advanced Microsoft Word, experience with "JDA Space Planning" or other Space Management software, a basic understanding of graphic programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator or Quark

  • Other/Preferred: The incumbent must be extremely detailed oriented and possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
