Job Description:

Responsibilities

Health Research, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Director, Public Health Continuing Education to work within the Office of Public Health (OPH). This individual will assist in directing and providing oversight of public health continuing education deliverables and budget supporting the implementation of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Public Health Infrastructure Grant (PHIG). The incumbent will assist in directing the design and implementation of a public health continuing education strategy that prioritizes Department Regional Offices, Local Health Departments and community-based organizations increasing their public health knowledge and foundational capabilities. The incumbent will assist in directing relationships with public health subject matter experts at higher education, workforce development institutions and community organizations. The incumbent will work collaboratively with other public health professionals to develop an evaluation plan that measures the success and application of subject matter public health education. The incumbent will lead a team of training and communications specialists that will develop and promote subject matter public health training, support OPH in advancing health equity and establishing trust in marginalized, vulnerable communities throughout New York State.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in a related field and five years of experience in the direction and/or management of a public health, health/human services, health regulatory program or community-based services program/organization; OR an Associate's degree in a related field and seven years of such experience; OR nine years of such experience. The years of experience must have included policy formulation, program planning, design, implementation, evaluation, and/or allocation of resources. At least three years of experience must have included supervision of staff. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience.

Preferred Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in a related field and at least five years of experience developing public health programs education that serve diverse populations including but not limited to minority individuals, people and veterans with disabilities, and rural working groups. Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and historically marginalized groups and demonstrated understanding of the working knowledge of the concepts of institutional and structural racism and its impact on public health interventions to underserved and underrepresented communities. Experience assessing and managing requests for training and professional development needs statewide. At least five years of experience managing training and development that centers health equity for the public health, human services, or health care workforce. At least three years of experience developing and facilitating training and development that prioritizes the reduction of health disparities and included topics on trauma informed care and social determinants of health and its impact on a person's health and well-being. Demonstrated, excellent oral/written communications, interpersonal, organizational, and computer skills. Public health marketing and communications experience. At least two years of experience managing contractual relationships. At least two years of experience hosting, and facilitating conferences, webinars or training series, technical experience with Web-Based Video Conferencing platforms, Learning Management Systems, Web-Based Participant engagement software and project management tools. At least three years of experience providing supervision of program support professionals.

Conditions of Employment

Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.

Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Travel, up to 10% of the time, will be required.

This position will require occasional work on weekends, after-hours, and holidays.


This position requires that the incumbent will report to the official work location and live within commuting distance to the official work location. Telecommuting will be available.
