UW - STOUT Assistant Professor in Food Science in MENOMONIE, Wisconsin
JOB REQUIREMENTS: JOB ID: 21433 JOB DETAILS: The Department of Kinesiology, Health, Food and Nutritional Sciences (KHFNS) at the University of Wisconsin-Stout invites applications for a 9-month, tenure track faculty position in food science commencing on August 18, 2025. We are seeking a dynamic, creative individual with expertise in food science and food safety engineering to assist us with the implementation of innovative food science and technology undergraduate and graduate programs. As a polytechnic university, we support student learning in alignment with UW-Stout\'s polytechnic tenets of applied learning and research, business and industry collaboration, and career-focused experiences. The appointment will be at the assistant or associate professor level and rank will be determined at time of hire commensurate with the successful candidate\'s academic preparation and experience. RESPONSIBILITIES UW-Stout is a primarily teaching institution with faculty teaching typically 24 credits per year. As such, faculty hired for this position teach an average of 12 credit hours of coursework each semester, including undergraduate and graduate-level courses in Food Science and Technology. As a teaching-focused campus, our faculty are expected to meet the responsibilities below. Teach effectively undergraduate and graduate courses (online and on-campus). Courses may include but are not limited to food science, food quality, food preservation and safety engineering, food innovations and plant management, and food plant design and sanitation. Design and deliver innovative curricular strategies, which include utilizing learning with digital technologies. Provide student academic advisement and conduct assessment of student learning. This includes contributing to academic program assessment and continuous improvement processes, in collaboration with faculty and staff. Write grant proposals and conduct research in the field of food science and food safety engineering. Supervise graduate and undergraduate students.
