Component Repair Technologies Repair Development Engineering Supervisor in Mentor, Ohio

JOB SUMMARY

The position of Repair Development Engineering Supervisor is responsible for the direct management and operational oversight of an experienced and professional team of engineers and support staff. This position will report directly to the Manager of Engineering. The successful candidate will additionally ensure compliance with internal procedures and applicable Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) guidelines in their daily job responsibilities.

The Repair Development Engineering Supervisor is responsible for work instruction development for components at the company. The Supervisor is the leader of a highly professional team of engineers and support staff who leads projects to industrialize existing repairs in approved technical data, as well as industrial development of new repairs with OEM support.

This position will collaborate with other company experts of the business daily, thus ensuring the continuous growth of knowledge to successfully perform in the position.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Evaluate issues with nonconforming engine components and approved technical data.

  2. Collaborate with the OEM to repair unserviceable components while supporting customer requirements.

  3. Lead Repair Development team to industrialize and develop new repairs.

  4. Participate in or lead special projects for the company or customer.

  5. Develop and/or revise work instructions and tooling to facilitate production.

  6. Communicate new work instruction requirements to production, supervision, and other support personnel.

  7. Work with other subject matter experts to generate repair documentation.

  8. Ensure repair requirements are being met using FAA approved technical data and/or industry standards.

  9. Communicate at a high-level regarding industrialization & development status, repair time & cost estimates.

  10. Assist in training other employees to company or industry standards.

  11. Provide direct managerial oversight of the department and personnel.

  12. Establish daily, weekly, and monthly objectives for the department.

  13. Motivate, coach, and counsel team members to achieve desired results.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. 4 Year (Bachelor’s) degree in an Engineering or technical field (B.S. Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, etc.) from an accredited college or university or five-years of relevant experience in a similar field in the manufacturing or aerospace industry.

  2. Ability to understand and interpret documentation including OEM repair manuals, FAA Regulations, and technical drawings.

  3. Demonstrated experience in effectively communicating with multiple teams at various levels internally within the company and external customer contact.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Experience or demonstrated knowledge of aerospace or gas turbine engine maintenance, repair, and overhaul.

  2. Experience with aerospace repair processes (thermal spray, machining, welding, heat treatment, NDT), helpful.

  3. Understanding of tooling and fixturing design including GD&T, methods of construction, and material selection.

  4. Understanding technical and engineering drawings

  5. Experience or familiarity with project management and continuous improvement.

  6. Strong written and oral communication skills. Able to work effectively with other engineers and technicians as well as the ability to convey technical concepts to all levels of the organization.

  7. Problem solving and analytical skills, capable of identifying and resolving technical issues in a timely manner.

  8. Strong understanding of engineering principles, equipment, and systems.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  1. This position has pre-employment testing requirements that may require fitness for duty testing and a vision exam.

  2. Follow general shop safety procedures including the occasional use of safety glasses, safety toe shoes, and hearing protection.

  3. Stand and/or sit for portions of the shift.

  4. Required to regularly lift less than 10lbs.
