Idaho State Police - Meridian, IdahoStatewide Opportunity

SPECIAL NOTIFICATION: This position is exempt from classified state service, the rules of the Division of Human Resources, and the Idaho Personnel Commission.

The Idaho State Police (ISP) has two part-time grant funded openings within the Meridian Bureau of Criminal Identification (BCI). These positions will work 19 hours per week with no benefits. Work schedule is Monday through Friday with some flexibility pre-approved by the supervisor.

This grant funding is anticipated for up to two years in duration.

PLEASE NOTE: The successful applicant will be required to complete a background investigation and polygraph examination, which includes drug screening. Applicants that have anyone living in their household, or an immediate family member that has ever been on any Sex Offender Registry, are disqualified from this position.

Example of Duties:

  • Update offender information in the Idaho Central Sex Offender Registry database

  • Conduct in-depth research of criminal records and legal documents relating to offender duty to register and registry compliance

  • Review and verify all incoming documents received by the state of Idaho for convicted sex offenders

  • Respond to customers regarding policies, procedures, and Idaho Code

  • Research a variety of sources for verification and proper determination

  • Research statutes from other states and make determinations as to equivalency to Idaho's statutes

  • Write detailed documentation justifying equivalency determinations

  • Apply the law as it relates to sex offenders and assist with interpreting criminal history records

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Experience:

  • Monitoring a records system to identify and correct errors

  • Researching a variety of sources to resolve problems

  • Interpreting, explaining and applying regulations, laws, or complex policies to carry out assignments

  • Entering and retrieving data using a computerized records system

  • Using word processing software to create and modify documents

    Desirable qualifications:

  • Experience working in a law enforcement agency entering Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR), National Incident Based Reporting Systems (NIBRS), or National Crime Information Center (NCIC) data into computer based systems

  • Experience working with sensitive or restricted data

  • Ability to type 40 words per minute
