Job Description

  • Assists Senior Chef with coordinating activities of kitchen personnel engaged in the preparation of food service for Café and catering. Assists in planning, ordering, inventory, and food preparation. Helps serves meals; remains present during scheduled meal periods to receive customer comments and feedback.

  • Cooks and prepares food following approved recipes and production standards. Ensures all deadlines are met based on production orders. Ensures proper food handling, presentation, portion control and maintenance of appropriate serving temperatures. Uses approved food recipes and production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures and standard portion control.

  • Monitors inventory and deliveries of product and supplies. Tracks product production, consumption and waste. Informs supervisor when supplies or product are low. Maintains consistent, efficient service during peak hours.

  • Demonstrates complete understanding of daily menu items and accurately explains them to associates and customers. Interacts with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner. Relays relevant information directly to supervisor.

  • Ensure that all safety and sanitation guidelines per Health Department are followed. Monitor all areas of food production and correct if needed any improper food handling procedures.

  • Maintains sanitation of equipment, supplies and utensils. Cleans workstation thoroughly before leaving area. Keeps display equipment clean and free of debris during meal service to comply with all sanitation, safety, production and merchandising requirements.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 4 years cooking experience, with some knowledge of menu development.

  • Culinary Certification preferred. Knowledge of volume production and batch cooking

  • Must be able to follow written recipes and instructions for menu items.

  • Knowledge of food cost, inventory management, and waste reduction.

  • Self-motivated, excellent communication skills with proven track record in providing excellent guest service. Experience in leading/training team members and contract labor.

  • Knowledge of the GFS ordering system, On-line Menu System and Catering.

  • Ability to adapt and focus on the beneficial aspects of change.

  • Pro-active leadership and organizational skills.

  • Excellent work and attendance record. Willing to work in any other job duties that may be assigned.

  • Overtime required, flexible work schedule at times. Sanitation certificate required.

  • The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.
