WSP USA Lead Highway Engineering in Miami, Florida
This Opportunity
WSP is currently searching for an enthusiastic and motivated Lead Highway Engineer for our Miami, FL office Transportation team! The WSP Tampa office serves clients from around the state on a wide variety of projects ranging from turn lanes and widening, minor intersection improvements and bridge replacements to urban interchange reconstructions and large design-build projects. This position is an excellent opportunity to continue to enhance design and production skills and build relationships within WSP as well as with a large number of clients around the state.
Candidate should have proven experience in leading design of civil, highway, roadway geometric design, roadway plan production, drainage design and/or traditional delivery and alternative delivery projects. This position may function as the lead engineer and/or Engineer-of Record (EOR) for the FDOT and other local agency / municipal clients. Responsibilities may also include project management, contributing on pursuits, maintaining client relationships, design oversight and Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC).
Your Impact
Providing guidance and mentoring of staff and direct work assignments.
Collaborating with management to determine long-range plans and goals, including recommendations on project staffing.
Lead project tasks for conceptual and preliminary engineering and final design activities, as well as development of construction plans, calculations, and specifications.
Coordinate with other design disciplines such as structures, drainage, traffic, and utilities, etc.
Participate hands-on in the preparation of Plans, Specifications and Estimates (PS&E).
Review, monitor and/or develop complex layouts, sketches, plans, specifications and estimates standards and guidelines, correspondence, and/or prepare reports.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
7+ years of experience in large transportation and infrastructure projects.
Professional Engineering License in FL or ability to obtain in six months.
Considerable experience leading design teams on FDOT and municipal projects (civil, highway, roadway geometric design, roadway plan production, and drainage design).
Skills in task and staff management experience on civil transportation projects.
Highly proficient with technical writing, office automation, discipline-specific design software (i.e., MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, etc.) technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Engineering.
Experience on Alternative Delivery projects
