The Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases has an exciting opportunity for an Outreach Coordinator. The Outreach Coordinator position is for work developing and implementing public education and outreach programs. The employee in this position is responsible for assisting in planning, preparing and implementing programs including a mobile unit to reach targeted population for general wellness screening including HIV and STD testing and cancer screening. This position may involve developing and delivering screening questionnaires, counseling individuals regarding risk and recommended screenings, performing HIV testing in community outreach settings, and ensuring linkage to care and continuity for sexual health and wellness services including pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP).

Carry out on-site and telephone assessments.

·Compile data for presentation.

·Assist with preparation and distribution of counseling and navigation manuals.

·Coordinate printing of materials of distribution.

·Work with community based organizations to plan promotional educational, and other events targeted toward designing increase awareness of the community.

  • Research and prepare reports, records and other documentation to coordinate and implement public and outreach program.

  • Respond to public inquiries about program.

  • Document daily activities and number of contacts reach or served through outreach initiative.

  • Maintains effective lines of communications with clients and prospective client to ensure adherence to program goals and objectives are met.

  • Promote services offered through traditional and electronic media.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • A minimum of one year of experience is required

  • Phlebotomist certification, BLS and HIV certification required.

  • This job may require evening and weekend hours and job duties may take place at multiple community locations throughout South Florida.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the content of information and resources available.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with external agencies.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills along with proper telephone etiquette.

  • Performs in tactful and professional manner.

  • Bilingual (English-Spanish or English-Haitian Creole) preferred.

  • Cultural competency with diverse populations including racial, ethnic, and sexual minority populations.

    Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications may be considered.
