Universal Engineering Sciences Project Manager in Miami, Florida

Summary

The Project Manager is a key role, leading operations within our Environmental Department, to lead and manage environmental projects with a focus on soil, groundwater, and vapor sampling. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical writing skills and field experience in Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESA) and demonstrate expertise in regulatory compliance and client communication.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

• Lifting and/or occasionally moving up to ten pounds can be expected, with or without reasonable accommodation

• Required to drive, stand, walk, use hands to type, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; talk and hear. Body motions and movements include bending, twisting, reaching, stooping, pulling, kneeling, lifting, carrying, and pushing, with or without reasonable accommodation

• Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment

• Occasional driving may be required

• This is not a remote position. This role will be based on the selected job posting location

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage environmental projects, including permitting, compliance, and remediation tasks

  • Develop and maintain proposals, cost estimates, schedules, and budgets

  • Ensure project alignment with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., CERCLA, RCRA, ASTM standards)

  • Identify and resolve challenges to ensure successful project outcomes

  • Perform Phase I and II ESA technical writing and fieldwork

  • Conduct soil, groundwater, and vapor sampling using established safety protocols

  • Prepare detailed reports, including sampling plans and remediation strategies

  • Coordinate asbestos inspections and assess hazardous material risks

  • Conduct site investigations, collect and evaluate data, and prepare comprehensive reports

  • Analyze reports, maps, blueprints, and test results to inform project execution

  • Ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations

  • Communicate with regulatory authorities and address project-specific requirements

  • Serve as the primary contact for clients, providing updates and addressing concerns

  • Deliver project findings and recommendations in a clear and professional manner

  • Train and supervise field staff to ensure project and safety compliance

  • Organize and maintain project documentation for operational efficiency

  • Other duties may be assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Valid Florida Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record (in accordance with our Driver’s License and Motor Vehicle Record Check Criteria), may or may not be required to perform the duties and responsibilities of the role

  • Ability to pass a background check screening in accordance with Florida’s Jessica Lunsford Act (or equivalent state classification)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering, or a related field

  • HAZWOPER 40-Hour Certification

  • Asbestos Inspector Certification

  • At least 3 years of experience in environmental consulting or a related field

  • Proven experience with Phase I and Phase II ESA technical writing and implementation

  • Expertise in soil, groundwater, and vapor sampling methodologies

  • Proficient in environmental regulations and standards

  • Strong project management and organizational skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities

  • Proficient understanding of Microsoft Office products

  • Familiarity with Smartsheet, Procore, or similar project management tools

  • Combination of office work and field visits to inspection sites

  • Must be comfortable working outdoors and at heights when necessary

  • Travel required to project sites

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in AEC firm is preferred

  • Asbestos Supervisor & 582

  • Familiarity with GIS or environmental modeling software

  • Experience with remediation technologies

  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and efficiency
