The department of Facilities has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Sr. Shipping and Receiving Clerk. The Sr. Shipping and Receiving Clerk assists junior clerks with activities related to shipping and receiving of materials, finished goods, and internal inventory management to ensure department’s order requirements are fully met, while maintaining compliance with all safety, quality, and other applicable requirements for product tracking and trace-ability.

CORE FUNCTIONS

  • Contacts appropriate staff or department to verify order or shipment requirements.

  • Schedules outbound shipments, coordinating pickup times with trucking companies to ensure on-time delivery.

  • Ensures appropriate paperwork is completed and accompanies each shipment.

  • Confirms exceptions and unusual deliveries, and tracks orders back to originator internally to verify.

  • Receives and unpacks materials and supplies.

  • Reports damages and discrepancies for accounting, reimbursement, and record-keeping purposes.

  • Communicates shipment schedule changes tactfully and adjusts shipping forecasts.

  • Logs and tracks vendor non-compliances, such as short shipments, incorrect shipments, and early or late shipments.

  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:

  • Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.

  • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.

  • Commitment to the University’s core values.

  • Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.

  • Proficiency in computer software (i.e., Microsoft Office).

Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications may be considered.
