POSITION SUMMARY

Position performs a variety of disciplines from multiple departments. Duties may include but are not limited to mowing, planting, trimming and/or removal of trees and shrubs, limbs, and other plants as needed. Spreading or spraying of chemicals such as fertilizers and weed killers. General maintenance on public works equipment zero turn mowers, tractors, brush cutters, chainsaws, weed eaters, playground equipment, etc.., general knowledge on how to operate said equipment, zero turn mowers, tractors, brush cutters, chainsaws, weed eaters, etc. Perform basic duties such as cleaning the inside and outside of city owned complexes. Carpentry and painting as needed for the proper construction, maintenance and repair of buildings, fences, and other city owned structures, pool, and splash pad.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

Receive assignment from respected manager or Chief Operating Officer.

Perform tasks to the best of ability and accomplish projects through use of equipment in a safe and effective manner.

Operate radio and/or other communication equipment of the department in an appropriate manner and use of appropriate language.

Fuel, lubricate, and replace worn parts on equipment; making minor repairs as needed.

Submit a vehicle/equipment repair order sheet to respected manager that details any repairs needed for equipment or vehicles.

Responsible housekeeping, maintenance duties, and other related activities for the general upkeep of the worksite and work facilities.

Performance of duties such as (but not limited to): Sports complexes, dragging fields, leveling dirt, edging, painting foul lines, chalking, installing and placing base anchors and setting bases at correct distances.

Assist in the general maintenance and upkeep of the GAR Cemetery.

Responsible for safe, efficient operation of City equipment and supplies, observing all applicable safety rules and/or standards.

May respond to citizens questions, concerns, or complaints in a timely, courteous, and helpful manner if answer is known; relay questions/concerns outside of scope to respected manager or Chief Operating Officer.

Performance of duties such as (but not limited to): mowing, weed eating, planting, trimming and removal of trees, shrubbery, spreading or spraying chemicals such as fertilizers or weed killers, janitorial duties, event clean-up, and litter control.

Cleaning and hauling miscellaneous debris.

Assist other departments within the city as assigned.

Assist with set-up for events in parks and downtown areas as directed as well as assisting citizens as needed.

Assist with maintaining permanent structures and other buildings such as: sheds; playground equipment; fairground equipment and facilities; tennis courts and equipment; sports complexes; and other recreational facilities within the city areas as directed.
