We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Writer II to join our team. The Technical Writer II will play a vital role in translating complex technical information into easily understandable formats as per customer guidelines. Working closely with experienced writers and internal teams, the successful candidate will interpret contractual specifications, engineering drawings, reports, and other data to produce technical documentation that meets customer requirements. This position involves troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems on heavy-duty equipment and interfacing with customers or their representatives throughout projects. Essential Functions: Write technical documents/manuals in accordance with customer specifications. Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems on heavy-duty equipment. Research existing data to maximize utilization of previously developed text and illustrations. Draft text materials to ensure coordination per final product requirements. Document and archive technical data efficiently for future projects. Track and record time spent on projects. Communicate work status and additional information needs to management. Complete assigned tasks within established deadlines and customer specifications, adhering to company policies and procedures. Follow established safety procedures and report violations. Assist in training new employees or those transitioning into the department. Review project requirements to ensure compliance with customer specifications and agreements. Perform other job-related tasks as requested with reasonable accommodation. Minimum Qualifications: Education: High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) required. Associate degree in a technical or mechanical field, or equivalent work experience required. Associate degree in Automotive Repair or related field preferred. Experience: Two to four (2-4) years of experience writing complex technical documents preferred. Previous military and/or mechanical aptitude/experience preferred. Experience with the Department of Defense (DoD) preferred. Experience troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems preferred. Familiarity with diagnostic tools such as Onboard Diagnostics (OBD) II, CAT ET, Allison DOC, Bendix Diagnostic, Dearborn, WABCO Toolbox, or other OEM tools preferred.
