We are searching for a diligent and experienced Sr. Accountant to join our team in the distribution industry. Based in WALLINGFORD, Connecticut, this role involves a hybrid workplace arrangement, with one day a week onsite. As a Sr. Accountant, your primary focus will be on managing complex inventory accounting tasks, conducting financial analysis, and reviewing staff member work.

Responsibilities:

• Execute journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations, particularly related to inventory, taxes, and customer rebates

• Administer average cost book to perpetual cost adjustments, reserves, and lifo calculations

• Handle intercompany ops charges for inventory transfers and direct sales timing variance accruals

• Conduct flux analysis and review of various financial statement lines, documenting findings appropriately

• Work closely with various regional and distribution center teams to resolve inventory-related issues

• Provide support for state, federal, sales, and use taxes – tax filings

• Monitor and manage customer rebates and promotion expense accruals

• Review staff member work, including balance sheet recs, journal entries, or other areas

• Utilize Microsoft Excel to handle large reports and data sets effectively

• Utilize Epicor ERP for efficient inventory management.

Requirements • Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience as an Accountant or in a similar role

• Proficiency in account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and bank reconciliations

• Strong understanding and experience with general ledger and journal entries

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

• Experience in month-end close

• Familiarity with Epicor and Epicor ERP systems

• Experience in asset inventory, annual inventory, and annual physical inventory

• Understanding of the Last In, First Out (LIFO) method

• Knowledge in the field of electrical distribution

• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail

• Strong communication and organizational skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
