Garnet Health Endocrinology Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant in Middletown, New York

Responsibilities A Licensed Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant assists the physician/endocrinologist during the testing and treating of patients with Diabetes or other related diseases. The Provider also administers assessments and care to patients in in-patient, ambulatory and out-patient settings including consultation services. This Advanced Practice Professional assumes a leadership role with multidisciplinary treatment team members. Oversees clinical care of patients assigned to the team. Ensures appropriate documentation of care. Provides on-call and weekend coverage as needed and when scheduled. Performs history and physical exams as required. They may also assist during insulin delivery training, patient injection technique and finger stick blood glucose monitoring as requested by the endocrinologist if the patients’ needs warrant assessment and intervention. Garnet Health System provides a compensation range to comply with the New York State law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The range for the role is $109,682-$121,148 annually. The range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits. When determining a team member’s compensation and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., location, specialty, service line, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, negotiated contracts, budget and internal equity). Qualifications Nurse Practitioner NYS Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner License- with Prescriptive Privileges; DEA mandatory, BLS certification required and ACLS certification preferred. ANCC Board Certification Advanced Practice or Board Eligible for up to 240 days after completion of training.. Endocrinology Care Certification preferred. Education: Masters in Nursing Required with Endocrinology Specialty training preferred Post-Masters Certificate- Endocrinology Nurse Practitioner preferred Physician Assistant Education: Master’s or doctorate degree in a Physician Assistant. Endocrinology Specialty training preferred Experience: One year primary care or Endocrine Department Care experience preferred Physical Requirements: Standing and walking most of the shift; moving patients and equipment. Mobility required. Occasional lifts, positions restrains, pushes and/or transfers patients. Occasional reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching. Working Environment: Constant contact with Endocrinology staff and patients. Regular contact with nursing staff. Exposed to unpleasant odors, sights, sounds, and agitated patients. Exposed and/or involved in stressful situations at times. Participation in tasks that include an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood and body substances or a potential for spills or splash of these substances.
