Job Summary

The asphalt laborer will be responsible for working within a crew on various road projects throughout an assigned territory (Cincinnati Metro Area or Dayton Metro Area) and expected to perform the job tasks described below.

Main Responsibilities

  • Main Responsibilities Cleaning and preparing the construction site and pavement surfaces.

  • Keep equipment and tools in good working condition.

  • Shovel asphalt and other materials Luting / raking asphalt and aggregates.

  • Set-up and take down temporary work zones efficiently.

  • Optimal traffic control in and around work zones (flagging) crafting a safe environment for traffic and onsite workers.

  • Assist in backing and dumping of tri-axles and milling machines.

  • Handling of hot liquid asphalt and various materials.

  • Remove old asphalt, concrete and other materials using a jackhammer or cut-off saw.

  • Erect and remove delineating devices such as barrels and cones.

  • Seal end joints.

  • Help fill water tanks on equipment as needed.

  • Compact material with small hand rollers and vibratory plates.

  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Skills

  • Valid Driver’s License and excellent driving record.

  • Road construction experience.

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).

  • Follow all DOT and company safety regulations.

  • OSHA 10 Hour Certification.

Education

  • High School diploma/GED

Work Environment

  • Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE), as required.

  • Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear).

  • Standing/working on feet for long periods, and walking across uneven terrain.

  • Frequent exposure to loud noise.

  • Regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles.
