JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The School of Humanities at Penn State Harrisburg is seeking an energetic, detail-oriented, and collaborative Administrative Support Assistant for the Communication, Sciences and Disorders program.

The ideal candidate will provide direct administrative and professional support to the school, the school's director, faculty, staff, the program, and the program chair. This is more than just an administrative opening. We are looking for someone who can perform with minimal supervision and is positive and eager to administratively lead this new program for the School of Humanities.

Job DutiesThis opening will perform complex tasks with minimal supervision. This Administrative Support Assistant will be responsible for the following: 

  • Support of faculty searches.

  • Purchasing for the unit, including supplies for events.

  • Coordinating event programs.

  • Taking minutes of faculty meetings and other meetings in the school and/or program.

  • Budget assistance with school budget reports.

  • Support of graduate student administrative processes.

  • Acting as a point of contact and responding to routine and moderately complex questions/issues concerning unit/University policies, processes, and procedures from internal and external contacts.

  • Creating and maintaining confidential student files, databases, and reports.

  • Compiling and organizing information to develop agendas, meeting materials, and reports.

  • Leading coordination and planning of special events.

  • Supporting the planning and coordination of moderately complex projects.

  • Serving on various committees.

  • Serving as a resource to others on a variety of subjects including office equipment, software application usage, and information processing procedures.

  • Developing, designing, and producing publications in accordance with established University policies/regulations.

  • Coordinating back-up support as needed.

  • Supporting the School of Humanities with other duties as assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • This opening typically requires a High School diploma or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
