Summary

Assures that all Food Safety and Quality Verification tasks are completed in the plant areas that are defined by the plant FSQA Manager.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Verifies HACCP checks are performed and records are accurate and complete as prescribed in the HACCP plan. Verifies that corrective actions are followed as defined in the HACCP plan and corrective action and preventive measure documentation is completed for each HACCP deviation. Reviews records for accuracy daily.

  2. Verifies SSOP checks are performed and records are accurate and complete as prescribed in the plant SSOP plans for operational and pre- operational sanitation. Assures corrective actions are followed for any deviations and records are accurate and complete as prescribed in programs. Reviews records for accuracy daily.

  3. Verifies that pre-requisite checks or prerequisite verification checks are performed based on the plants pre-requisite programs. Assures corrective actions are followed as defined in the Prerequisite programs for any deviations. Reviews records for accuracy daily.

  4. Verifies that finished product AQL sampling for products produced in assigned areas comply to customer and Perdue specifications. Verifies that actions are being initiated for products that do not meet specifications. Reports Percent First Quality data for plant tracking.

  5. Assures that all positions are covered. Adjusts assignments as needed to achieve coverage with FSQA supervisor input and support.

  6. Generates documentation via manual entry on paper records or data entry in automated FSQA systems. Assures that manual records are filed and available upon request from auditors and USDA.

  7. Conducts sampling with testing equipment; scales, meters, thermometer, titration kits, etc. as needed.

  9. Must be able to perform all FSQA tasks in all areas of the plant in the event of absenteeism or staff vacations.

  10. Input data from plant checks into computer reporting systems; SAP, SharePoint, Excel, etc. to generate plant reports

Minimum Education

  • High School equivalent. Minimum 1-2 years harvest processing plant experience or equivalent manufacturing experience with emphasis on product quality and food safety.

Experience Requirements

  • Good communication (both oral and written) and math skills.

Experience Preferred

  • Associates degree in with biology or food safety concentration. Poultry harvest operations or FSQA experience.

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

  1. May need to move light equipment or supplies from one place to another.

  2. When in a plant environment:

  • Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces.

  • May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity.

  • May handle product 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit.

  • May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db.

  • May be exposed to all chemicals found in poultry, food and processing plant.

  • Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company.

  • Must be able to lift cases up to 50 lbs.

  • Must be able to climb platforms as needed to conduct verification activities.
