NORTHWESTERN MUTUAL LIFE INSURANCE Lead Network Engineer in MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin

JOB REQUIREMENTS: The Lead Network Engineer at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin will work with Core Network Engineering team to lead architecture and long term direction of Northwestern Mutual\'s DNS (Domain Name System). Maintain existing system, assess existing risk of current environment, and build a path to achieve next generation of DNS within Northwestern Mutual network. Provide subject matter expertise for DDI (DNS/DHCP/IPAM) ecosystem to ensure best practice functionality. Participate and drive evaluation of existing DDI infrastructure and provide recommendations to ensure architecture meets technological demands of network team\'s internal customers. Perform research and development into advanced features such as DNSSEC, Reverse Policy Zones, DDOS solutions, etc. to enhance security posture for Northwestern Mutual in regard to our DDI system and offered services. Identify and execute automation functionality for repeatable day to day tasks. Work with automation group on DDI integration into network as a code methodology which will allow for easier consumption of services without network intervention. Identify monitoring enhancements for better system performance visibility to report metrics in a meaningful way to leadership. Create software lifecycle process to ensure support for most up to date support with vendors. Utilize experience to mentor junior engineers on Northwestern Mutual\'s DDI environment and concepts such as basic DNS hierarchy and DHCP protocol flows. May telecommute from anywhere in the U.S. Requires a Bachelor\'s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field plus 6 years of experience as a Network Engineer or related occupation. 6 years of experience must include 3 years of experience with each of the following: (1) DDI administrative management tools (Infoblox and Bluecat); (2) creating, delivering, and supporting highly available architectures; (3) DNSSEC implementation and management; (4) DNS firewall implementation and management including RPZ; (5) Cloud based PaaS and SaaS platforms and integration points to On Prem infrastructure; (6) monitoring and performance management of systems; (7) AWS, Kubernetes, Linux, or Windows administration and configuration; (8) virtualization and containerization of DDI ecosystem; and (9) Infoblox NetMRI or Network Insight.
