Job Description Summary

The Algorithms and Signal/Image Processing Principal Engineer sets the technology vision and direction for the Maternal Infant Care AI and video analytics roadmap. The role will drive strategies for non-contact measurements as well as predictive fetal monitoring. This role requires experience in both time series analyses and advanced image processing.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Drive multi-generational architecture roadmap for microenvironment and fetal monitoring time series analyses and video image processing, and proven ability to deliver technology architectures.

  • Guides multi-generational architecture strategies based on understanding of the market, customer needs, competitors, and regulatory requirements/standards.

  • Ensure architectures and roadmaps optimally implement clinical workflows while fully supporting technology strategies, business needs and schedule, quality, and cost targets.

  • Work with product teams to understand requirements, collaboratively innovate solutions, and drive those into the product portfolios.

  • Lead and mentor engineers and architects.

  • Collaborate with other Principal engineers to leverage the best technology to rapidly implement customer delighting solutions in compliance to rigorous medical device CTQs.

  • Obtain business buy-in for systems and patient interface strategy in collaboration with program, technology, and business leaders.

  • Collaborate with other GEHC organizations (specifically PCS) providing components used by systems platforms to ensure components and services delivered meet the requirements of the platform.

  • Actively participate in relevant industry, scientific, and standards organizations, representing relevant GEHC interests.

  • Work closely with the Chief Engineer’s Office to initiate, author, and continuously improve design practices, leveraging experience to drive standardization and simplification and applying current best practices across the organization.

  • Analyze competitive technologies and intellectual property to differentiate GEHC.

  • Effectively communicate and provide recommendations through the analysis, preparation, and presentation of technical data to internal and external GEHC stakeholders and customers.

  • Provide technical consultation and application support to cross-functional teams throughout the business to improve or resolve manufacturing, product center, supplier, or field issues.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or a STEM related degree.

  • 12 years progressive experience in technology and/or product development.

  • Experience in time series analyses and image processing algorithms.

  • Domain expert and visionary with technical leadership skills and a demonstrated record of delivery.

Desired:

  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Engineering, Science, or a STEM area.

  • Demonstrated ability incorporating business, market, industry, and competitive knowledge into technical solutions.

  • Strong business acumen.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop new approaches to complex design problems

  • Demonstrated experience driving technology and engineering planning processes with a focus on differentiation and financial return.

  • Demonstrated strong, impactful communication with technology and business.

  • Proven ability to drive change.

  • Proven results from generating passion and enthusiasm for ideas by communicating clear and articulate messages that speak to the needs, values, and interests of others.

  • Previous medical device experience.
