GE Healthcare Sr Staff Architect - Interoperability in Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Job Description Summary

This role is a highly influential technical leadership position within Patient Care Solutions (PCS) and various interoperability standards bodies. The architect will apply their in-depth knowledge of networking, medical device data protocols, technology platforms, and engineering design principles and advancements to lead the design and development of interoperability solutions. They will ensure that data models meet international standards while also influencing the development of interoperability standards.

Job Description

  • Manage the Patient Care Solutions data protocol design evolution across multi-generation platform/product software releases.

  • Ensure new and existing interoperability roadmaps fully support Patient Care Solutions technology strategies and business needs.

  • Lead data governance councils and review boards

  • Represent interoperability and software technology initiatives across the various business segments within PCS

  • Participate and provide final sign off approvals for interoperability related Technical Design Reviews for all relevant New Product Introductions

  • Promotes and ensures PCS participation in third party hosted connect-a-thons

  • Actively participate in relevant industry, scientific, and standards organizations, representing relevant PCS interests

  • Provide technical leadership to the PCS global platform engineering team

  • Actively maintain awareness of customer needs

  • Define and obtain business buy-in for interoperability solutions via global technology planning sessions, financial meetings and marketing processes

  • Analyze, design and develop a roadmap, design pattern, and implementation plan based upon a current vs. future state in a cohesive architecture viewpoint.

  • Lead the research and evaluation of emerging interoperability technology, industry and market trends to assist in project development and/or operational support actives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science or related degree

  • Minimum of 8 years of overall progressive engineering work experience

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience developing applications that communicate between disparate systems

  • Strong understanding and ability to develop XML schema and applications which include transformation of data

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for presenting, discussing, and documenting technical information

  • Demonstrated knowledge of medical device quality management system

  • Demonstrated ability to influence product leadership and product direction through action-oriented recommendations based on technology strategy and risk retirement

  • Demonstrated effective problem solving capabilities

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within and across various teams

Desired Characteristics

  • Masters’ degree in Electrical, Mechanical or related Engineering degree

  • 11+ years of overall progressive engineering work experience

  • Demonstrated technical expertise and domain experience in interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR, DICOM, IEEE 11073-10701-2022)

  • Previous participation with standards organizations such as IEEE, IHE, and other communication related groups

  • Proven ability to influence, drive change, gain buy-in for initiatives, mentor technical talent, and partner with global teams

  • Strong working knowledge of state of the art network communication protocols such as streaming protocols, messaging services, publish and subscribe techniques.

  • Strategic planner and thinker with ability to drive change across the segment products

  • Self-starter, energizing, results oriented, and decisive

  • Demonstrated understanding of Patient Care Solutions products and platforms

  • Ability to work in a hybrid manner in the Milwaukee and Waukesha based office locations

  • Demonstrates clear thinking and strong decision making skills: takes proactive steps to generate results, uses data and other inputs to make decisions, owns decision, and takes accountability for work using strong organizational and analytical skills.
