Crisis Recovery Peer Advocate

The Opportunity

SHERPA is a specially trained team of peer recovery coaches offering guidance to individuals and families navigating the Substance Use Disorder (SUD) treatment system. SHERPA provides recovery, harm-reduction, and crisis service linkage and emotional support based on the principles of hope, wellness, dignity, and choice.

Responsibilities

  • Identify needs and skills of individuals in recovery

  • Assist in the development of person-centered recovery plans and monitor progress.

  • Provide mentoring and identification of strengths and obstacles with individual.

  • Provide non-clinical peer support services and match individuals with available skills and resources.

  • Educate program participants about multiple pathways of recovery, existing social and other support services

  • In conjunction with Program Manager, implement specific programs, groups and activities to meet participant needs.

  • In conjunction with Program Manager, recruit and train volunteers.

  • Promote and assist in facilitation of community outreach and special events.

  • Foster environment of cooperation, teamwork and mutual respect.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Completion of Recovery Coach Training Academy (46 hours).

  • NYS Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA or CRPA-Provisional) certification required.

  • Knowledge of recovery and community resources.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Computer proficient in MS Word and database systems.

  • Ability to work well with others.

  • Valid NYS driver's license with a safe and responsible driving history

Preferred:

  • Social media experience preferred.

  • Experience in delivery of peer recovery services and supports preferred.

  • Training experience preferred.

Compensation Information

  • FCA is committed to a salary framework that aligns with our culture and values. The compensation range reflected is in alignment with our framework and individual pay decisions will vary based on skills and experience' while still allowing for growth.

Additional Information

  • Salary:$24.73

  • Schedule: Full-time (35 hours/week), Non-Exempt.
