We offer a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in the office, two days of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility.

Job Summary

Note: This position will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate's education, knowledge, skills and abilities.

Dominion is currently seeking an Engineer I, II or III OR Engineering Technical Specialist I, II or III for the I&C Design department in Site Engineering at the North Anna Power Station in Mineral, VA. A degreed engineering candidate is being sought to fill one open position as a member of the Station’s Nuclear Engineering team. May 2024 Engineer candidates will be considered. The candidate will fill a position in the Instrumentation and Controls Design Engineering Group in the Nuclear Engineering Department at North Anna Power Station.

The successful candidate will work on site and provide design support to the station developing design change documentation for plant modifications and assist in understanding, evaluation, and maintaining the existing Design Configuration of North Anna Power Plant, Units #1 & #2. The candidate will work on a broad range of I&C issues with a primary area of focus on computers, digital control upgrades and cyber security.

Candidates will be expected to have or gain familiarity with nuclear power plant design, including the Electrical Distribution System and or the Instrumentation and Control Systems at the station. A Training program will be provided for the new candidate to obtain a required basic level of knowledge for understanding, plant design basis, operations, maintenances as well as work planning structure, including normal and emergency operating procedures. Knowledge of Ovation DTS’s systems is a plus.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Engineer I: 0-2 years of engineering experience; Engineer II: 3+ years of engineering experience, 5+ years of engineering experience in Computer, Electrical or I&C OR Engineering Technical Specialist I: 0-2 years of directly related technical experience, Engineering Technical Specialist II: 3+ years of directly related technical experience, Engineering Technical Specialist III: 5+ years of directly related technical experience.

Specific knowledge, skills and abilities include: Full knowledge of engineering theories and principles, Knowledge and experience with Cyber Security/Information Security concepts, practices and implementation, Ability to process information and effectively manage multiple tasks, Strong oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing), Able to work as a “project owner” and work with various groups in the station, Willing to get into the field and perform hands on evaluation of plant modification, Willing to work nights and/or weekend to support critical station needs, Required to become a member of the Emergency Response Organization, Ability to think analytically and solve engineering problems, Ability to interpret codes, regulations and practices, Knowledge and experience with network infrastructure, modern operating systems, database applications, web applications and other computing technologies.

Education Requirements

For Engineer titles, required degree (equivalency not accepted in lieu of required degree): Bachelor (must meet Required Engineering Criteria provided below); Required discipline(s): Engineering, Computer, Electrical or I&C Engineering - May 2024 graduates will be considered.

For Engineering Technical Specialist titles, Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education. May 2024 graduates will be considered.

REQUIRED ENGINEERING CRITERIA: For placement of a candidate in the Engineer job series, the following criteria must be met: Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program based on the year that the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own Engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or Possess a 4-year degree in Engineering (non-ABET accredited), Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technology and a post-graduate Engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same Engineering discipline is ABET-accredited based on the year the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.
