The OBAO administratively supports the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC), the Stem Cell Research Oversight Panel (SCRO), the Dual Use Research of Concern Institutional Review Entity (DURC IRE), and the Fetal Tissue Research Committee (FTR). The Administrative Associate works closely with the OBAO Director, OBAO staff, oversight committee members, and researchers to ensure compliance with university policies and OBAO administrative functions. The Administrative Associate will be responsible for managing and implementing general operations of the OBAO administration for communications, meeting preparation, meeting record keeping, and post-meeting reporting and correspondence. The Administrative Associate must be able to apply their knowledge and skills to complete tasks with precision and timeliness that are mostly arranged around a monthly meeting (IBC). The successful Administrative Associate will have excellent written and oral communication skills, and a high technical proficiency with information technology. The candidate must have strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills. This position coordinates and communicates duties with other office staff daily. The Administrative Associate will be at ease working within electronic processes and must be able to adapt to changes in office administrative processes. The Administrative Associate must be willing to work in a department that supports human, animal and recombinant or synthetic nucleic acid research. Annual Salary Range We offer a competitive annual salary range of $45,000 to $61,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Position Duties and Responsibilities Committee Support (70%) Assist in administrative support of committee member activities. Participate actively in daily support of compliance submissions that require administrative and/or designated review and processing. Pre-review submitted applications and assist in recording information used by OBAO staff in review and processing. Manage logistics for monthly compliance meetings including (not limited to) scheduling, reservations, materials preparation, attendance, and member communications. Attend OBAO supported committee review meetings and record details on committee attendance, discussions, and actions. Develop meeting minutes and draft correspondence resulting from committee actions and member contributions. General Operations (30%) Triage communications and assist researchers with guidance and/or additional information for compliance committee support. Identify, investigate, report and track problems with compliance IT web application. Escalate errors and compliance system issues with RIO-ORIS. Communicate and use eProtocol workarounds for known application deficiencies. Assist in reporting compliance metrics. Assist in compliance tracking. Create ad-hoc reports for projects as requested. Identify and notify staff on submitted incident reports. Assist in website updates. Work to complete special projects and other miscellaneous duties. OBAO management retains the right to modify flexible work arrangement agreements on a temporary or permanent basis for any reason at any time. Qualifications Required Qualifications BA/BS degree in biology or a related field or a combination of related education and work experience to equal four years Preferred Qualifications Experience writing succinct, technical or compliance correspondence Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to track and follow-up disparate tasks Administrative office experience with highly complex/detailed work Expertise with multiple computer applications including Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office, and the Google suite of web applications About the Department The Office of Biotechnology Activities Oversight provides administrative support to the University community and the committees responsible for oversight in areas of biosafety and biosecurity.
