This is a technical business development and marketing role for Circuit Protection & Controls (CP&C). It is part of the Siemens Smart Infrastructure operating company, Electrical Products (EP) business unit and is focused on Circuit Breakers, Safety Disconnect Switches, and Motor Controls.

This position is a key sales growth resource within CP&C, reporting to the Manager of Business Development. It is an ideal role for an initiative-taking entrepreneur with communication, technical, and marketing skills. In conjunction with Siemens salespeople, the successful candidate will continually build sales by expanding our customer base at large industrial and commercial accounts.

The role will involve regular coordination with many departments including, but not limited to Sales, Business Development leaders, R&D, Product Management, and Application Engineering. Collaboration within CP&C is the priority but there will be regular interaction with adjacent segments and business units.

The best candidate will have the ability to unlock potential within identified vertical industries plus have electrical product experience selling to industrial machine and electrical control panel builders such as those authorized with UL508A certification. An industrial controls background is required as well as a strong technical aptitude and experience in developing, plus maintaining executive customer relationships.

You will make impact with the following responsibilities:

  • The overall responsibility of this position is to plan and execute business development within identified vertical industries.

  • This role will leverage a large team of focused salespeople who are spread nationally to develop and manage customer accounts in all industries.

  • Collaboration across several different sales groups inside and outside of CP&C.

  • Measurements include market share growth for the CP&C products and number of new accounts that will build regular ordering patterns.

  • Developing value propositions and presenting solutions to customers, specific to their industry.

  • Build documented justification for new product solutions and collaborate internally with R&D and Product Management to bring those products to market.

  • Challenge Product Management roadmap development and prioritization to align with our goals for market share growth.

  • This Vertical Industry Business Developer will handle challenging escalations from customers and find solutions to communicate and build customer satisfaction.

  • Negotiation of new business with customers including pricing and unique contractual terms.

  • Adapt to modern technologies and stay updated with industry trends and advancements in control products.

You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering management or related fields.

  • 5 plus years of strong technical sales background experience.

  • 5 plus years of successful experience within the industrial field

  • Strong understanding of electrical circuits, circuit protection, and industrial controls technologies.

  • Must have an understanding of industrial applications and integration of automation and electrical products to support the applications.

  • Ability to travel 30-60%

  • Must be eligible to work in the US with no sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong data analysis, problem solving, and presentation skills

  • Knowledge and experience with industrial controls products (relays, contactors, motor starters, communications devices, PLCs, Motor Controls Centers), electrical distribution products, specifically Circuit Breakers (Mini Circuit Breakers, AFCI / GFCI, MCCB, ACB).

  • Advanced degree in business management.

  • Advanced experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) process or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.

  • Cross Functional Experience with related functions and / or organizations.

  • Experience with SAP, Tableau, Siemens COMPAS tool, Siemens Industry Mall, SiePrice and SieSales (SaleForce.com).

  • The pay range for this position is $87,700 - $149,200. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
