This position will support student data initiatives that foster student success and support data-informed decision-making by working with SDA team members to design, develop, deploy, and support reports and analytical solutions via various technologies. A successful candidate will have some data and/or systems process analysis prowess, or the ability and curiosity needed to learn these skills. A strong interest in continued professional development, to ensure the team's ongoing success, is also important in this role. Primary Responsibilities: Maintain and support existing reports Analyze and interpret data; communicate insights and findings Document and test reports Work with team members and stakeholders to understand business needs and business rules Academic Support Resources supports hybrid andflexible working arrangements. Work arrangements are determined in coordination with supervisors depending on the nature of the unit and position. The arrangement for this position will be determined upon hire between employee and supervisor. Reporting Production and Operations Support (50%) Lead the rapid resolution of user questions and report production issues. Maintain and support existing reports. Ensure data and reports meet service expectations and are available for end-users. Contribute in delivering improvements to the data and analytics reporting and/or processes. Help coordinate and maintain system processes and documentation. Gain and maintain an overall understanding of student databases. Create and maintain user help guides and other training resources. Collaboration (30%) Collaborate with functional users to ensure that business logic is appropriately represented in the analysis of data. Partner with SDA team members to analyze, interpret, and represent ASR and work collaboratively with University leaders, University groups and committees. Engage the Student Data user community to promote the use of Student Data & Analytics solutions in support of student success. Explore and develop data-driven stories in order to positively impact student success. Communicate findings and insights to stakeholders who may have varying degrees of technical ability, and provide business strategy recommendations for optimizing performance. Business Intelligence Development (10%) Design, build, test, document, and deploy operational and strategic reports/business intelligence solutions. Professional Development (10%) Gain and maintain knowledge of tools used to support ASR systems and products. Pursue professional growth through training, workshops, and reading. Pair with colleagues to expand shared knowledge. Continue to develop subject matter expertise in student data. Stay current on data, visualization, and analytics trends, topics, and technologies. Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: BA/BS degree plus two years of relevant IT work experience, or a master's degree. Internships and relevant IT work experience may be counted toward the two-year work experience requirement on a pro-rated basis. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Good written, verbal, and presentation skills. Able to interact professionally with diverse groups and across disciplines with a range of technical expertise. Skilled in interpreting business needs and translating them into actionable requirements for reporting and data pipelines. Ability to interpret data insights and methods effectively to non-technical audiences. Experience with SQL, Oracle Analytics, Tableau, and P opleSoft Query. Comfortable working with complex data sets. Knowledge of Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) process. Experience working in higher education or other educational/human services settings. The SDA team focuses on these main project areas: Student Retention - Develop, refine, and maintain statistical models to predict students who are more likely to leave the University. Curricular Analytics - Examine students who started in a major and move to another major. Explore courses where students historically receive lower grades, on average, than their overall career GPAs. Analyze courses that students historically passed vs. failed and the impact of their propensity to graduate vs. leave the University. Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) - Consult on the development of cloud pipelines for data marts. Support the addition of new report ready tables. Build robust data structures to support analysis on core University business processes and student success topics in partnership with the Office of Information Technology (OIT).Ad-hoc requests and support of existing enterprise reporting - Areas such as: - Course Enrollment, Academic Records, Degree Progress, Undergraduate Admissions, Learning Analytics Dashboards, Tutoring, Degree Requirement Audits, Student Survey Analysis, and Class Scheduling.
