Xcel Energy Digital Content Designer in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Position Summary

This is a key position on our digital experience team which will play a pivotal role in the development of creative short and long-form content across multiple digital platforms, including email and web. This position will write email and web content with a purpose and help each client achieve unique goals and objectives. The digital content designer will also provide user experience recommendations to obtain the best results, write content to maximize a Search Engine Optimization/Search Engine Marketing (SEO/SEM) strategies as well as using data to drive recommendations.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Maintain clear understanding of audience, purpose, user experience, SEO/SEM and calls to action in writing process to strongly empathize with the motivations of the audience and develop content that serve the overall purpose

  • Work with other members of the digital team to align visual creative with the purpose and message of all content

  • Initiate regular touch points with clients and digital team to uncover goals and gain a deeper awareness of the audiences and their specific pain points and motivations

  • Recommend new web content strategies based on insight and analytics that support client goals for nurturing and engagement strategies

  • Recommend topics and stories to the advertising/digital teams and assist in the management of editorial calendars for clients

  • Create strategic options for copy, headlines and layout for test different designs and assist clients with analysis and refinements

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (preferably journalism, marketing or communications) or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 3 years of experience in content development or copywriting role with proven ability to create content that is accessible and usable

  • Requires superlative writing skill, including strong writing and editing processes

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and digital media platforms such as social and content management system; experience with marketing automation, picture sourcing, and editing tools preferred

  • Comfortable with multi-tasking and balancing numerous projects/deadlines/priorities simultaneously; at ease working in an agile environment

  • Possess the ability to work alone as well as collaboratively in a team environment and interact with clients day-to-day as needed.

Non-Bargaining

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $69,700.00 to $99,100.00 per year
