General Mills Inc Director, International Tax in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Job Description Overview In the International Tax Director role, you will serve as a global leader who manages and oversees all aspects of international tax matters in the 100+ jurisdictions in which General Mills operates. This role requires you to navigate complexity of U.S. and non-U.S. international tax rules as they relate to General Mills legal entity structure. Responsibilities Functional Responsibilities Lead, identify, manage, and maintain international tax planning in close coordination other tax teams as well as business and functional teams Direct and manage international tax compliance Lead and manage international tax process improvement as well as controversy management globally Remain current on international tax environment and issues, lead reviewing and interpreting US tax code and regulations and assess impacts on General Mills Provide technical tax accounting advice on various international tax accounting issues (e.g., intercompany transactions, business combinations, valuation allowances, leases and debt instruments, etc.) Support the review of certain international tax forms and required statements Review the reconciliation and analysis of tax accounts for foreign entities Management Responsibilities Manage and lead international tax team Collaborate with director/senior manager peers to show leadership to the tax team and collectively help drive team initiatives Direct the work of external vendors that assist in international tax work Cross Functional Responsibilities Partner with local and HQ business and functional leadership regarding all international tax planning and compliance activities Identify the information necessary from finance and business operations for tax planning Collaborate with transfer pricing team to understand intercompany transactions and data to be used in planning Collaborate with legal to support the preparation of board meetings specific to the local country substance and to maintain quarterly organizational charts Partner with various stakeholders across the business to stay apprised of business priorities and use that knowledge to identify planning opportunities and risk mitigation strategies Interact with external parties such as auditors, consultants, and tax compliance advisors Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in tax, accounting, finance, economics, or related fields At least 10 years of relevant tax experience with heavy emphasis on US international tax and international tax A broad understanding of international tax and US international tax concepts Strong ability to partner with local and HQ business and functional leadership Strong stakeholder management skills with ability to communicate complex tax technical topics to non-tax stakeholders, as well as work effectively with external accountants, attorneys, and tax auditors Strong project management and communication skills Ability to use own judgment and initiative in problem resolution Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office Preferred Qualifications Active CPA Advanced degree (MBA, MBT, JD, etc.) in tax, accounting, finance, or related fields Experience in consumer foods industry Salary Range The salary range for this position is $166400.00 - $249800.00 / Annually.
