Spectrum Plastics Master Estimator in Minneapolis, Minnesota

SUMMARY:

Analyze drawings, CAD files, specifications, and other documentation to determine manufacturing time, costs including labor estimates, raw material prices, outside vendor costs, packaging, etc. as necessary to establish total costs for products, projects or services.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Timely quoting of tools, parts, services, packaging, assembly, and any other components or costs associated with a customers’ request for quote.

  • Accurate quoting (quoted versus actual costs) based on industry competitive practices.

  • Actively promote and drive a culture of safety.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepares work to be estimated by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.

  • Identifies labor, raw materials, outside services, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications and related documents.

  • Review data to determine material, labor and machinery requirements are understood. Involve the necessary departments and vendors to submit quotations on new and existing tooling and piece price projects.

  • Computes costs by analyzing tooling, labor, materials, services, and time requirements.

  • Resolves discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.

  • Set up preliminary BOM structure in IQMS.

  • Organize and compute cost factors and prepare estimates used for management purposes such as planning, organizing, scheduling work, and preparing bids.

  • Presents prepared estimate by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information.

  • Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.

  • Manage RFQ and Quote Logs on in process and processed quotations.

  • Assist in sales process, as required, with external sales team and at internal customer meetings.

  • Assist in updating existing part price quotations for customer pricing contracts.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES (Manager, Supervisor, Lead):

    None

    EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

  • Understanding of injection molding process

  • Familiar with estimating process in plastic injection molding environment

  • CAD experience preferred

  • Interpretation of drawings and specification

  • Strong organization skills and ability to prioritize

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills

  • Strong computer skills with ERP experience a plus

  • 5 – 7 years experience in a manufacturing environment

    WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit.

    The noise level in the work environment is minimal in the office and loud on the production floor.
