They encompass undergraduate and master's degree programs, professional development offerings for practitioners through courses, conferences, and contract learning, pre-college programs for high school students (concurrent enrollment and PSEO), and lifelong learning for personal enrichment. The Executive Director, Finance for CCAPS oversees an extensive range of transactions related to developing, marketing, and delivering the programs, and provides financial information to guide investment decisions related to adding, expanding, or reducing programs. The Executive Director, Finance is responsible for maintaining effective accounting practices and procedures, and provides leadership for a culture of strong internal controls that ensures compliance with University procedures and integrity with respect to all stakeholders. The position will lead the College by acting as a good resource steward, providing the financial guidance and tools that feed the entrepreneurial spirit throughout the college, and as a strategist to lead the financial future direction of the college. Total revenues from all sources are approximately $33 million. The Executive Director, Finance works in a collaborative environment within CCAPS, and is a member of the CCAPS Leadership Team; provides leadership that ensures CCAPS's accountability in the budget and finance environment of the University of Minnesota, serves as Resource Responsibility Center manager; and provides strategic guidance to CCAPS that supports the College's mission of programmatic excellence, accessibility to University education, and solid and reliable partnerships with entities within and outside the University. The Executive Director, Finance is expected to lead the development and synthesis of high-quality, complex financial analysis in support of collegiate and University goals and outcomes including program development. We are looking for the role to take a creative deep dive into portfolio analysis capitalizing on the synergies between programs and departments, aligning and nurturing current programs to market opportunities, while simultaneously being a thought leader for future value added opportunities. The Executive Director, Finance reports to the Dean of the College of Continuing and Professional Studies. This is a 100% time P&A position. Normal work hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5 pm. This position reports to the Dean, and given the nature of the work, is expected to be on university premises four days/week. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversee Development and Use of Effective Financial Information Systems to advise Decision Making, Strategic Planning, and Financial Forecasting (50%) 1. Analyze and interpret financial information pertaining to the performance of the college, and make recommendations concerning business policy, strategy, resource allocation, and business operations to improve financial performance. 2. Analyze and project future income and expenditure streams through financial modeling to support the college's strategic and business plans and enterprise development. 3. Work with the college's unit directors to assess and support their objectives in reaching their respective strategic goals by helping them analyze information and effectively plan. Work collaboratively with individual directors to identify key performance indicators for their unit, and provide information support that enables t em to monitor their performance indicators on a real-time or regular basis. 4. Contribute to a managerial environment that values optimization of internal operational processes and continuous learning. 5. Work closely with the college's development officer in the stewardship and management of development resources, especially scholarships, and with the human resources director in regard to staffing and compensation strategies. 6. Advise the Dean on management and maximization of the college's assets and resources. 7. Serve as a member of the CCAPS Leadership Team. Lead Budget Development and Financial Management (40%) 1. Organize and manage the work of (5) financial professionals who in turn work directly with the major revenue-producing units of the college and professional support units. Serve as the hiring authority for the finance unit; manage performance. Foster a professional and positive working environment committed to principles and practices of respect, inclusivity, continuous improvement, excellent customer service, and teamwork. 2. Provide direction and oversee development of the annual collegiate budget. 3. Monitor ongoing performance against the budget throughout the year, providing information tools to unit managers/directors to monitor progress. Identify decision items and assist in final decision making and implementation. 4. Manage year-end closing of fiscal year operating budget. 5. Oversee payroll systems and processes; work in close collaboration with CCAPS-HR. 6. Be responsive to staff and faculty across the College who have questions pertaining to finance related matters and provide instruction/training as necessary. Represent the College in Fiscal Matters (10%) 1. Serve as primary liaison with central administrative units for budget, financial and capital asset matters, audits, sponsored projects, banking and investments, PCI compliance, and for other issues that may arise. 2. Represent CCAPS in financial negotiations and contractual arrangements with internal and external partners. 3. Serve as point person for University Internal Audits and for responding to inquiries related to the financial activities of the college and assigned units. Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS BA/BS degree from an accredited institution At least 10 years of relevant experience and proven management/leadership skills Strong interpersonal skills that include listening, openness to feedback and other perspectives, clear written and oral communication skills Demonstrated expertise in use of technology and information tools related to the needs of the position including excel and google workbooks Demonstrated commitment to inclusive excellence and serving a diverse community of learners Experience in developing and managing complex budgets, and supporting revenue-producing enterprises PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Master's degree, with at least one degree in accounting, finance, or related fields Experience with financial management in a university or public agency setting and 6 years of relevant experience and proven management skills Experience leading financial and multifunctional teams Are you...
