Job Description OVERVIEW: As the Corporate Accounting & Accounting Policy Manager, you will have the opportunity to lead the accounting and controls processes related to initiatives to enable an optimal corporate structure to support profitable growth and top-tier shareholder returns. You will lead General Mills' adoption of new accounting standards and partner globally with a variety of internal and external teams to address complex accounting while contributing to key enterprise initiatives. This role offers many unique developmental and leadership opportunities, including: Serve as the Corporate Accounting lead for technical accounting and controls matters supporting key enterprise initiatives, primarily related to corporate structure optimization projects and intercompany accounting and governance. This will involve accounting for intercompany capital and equity transactions as well as routine intercompany accounting. Contribute to significant enterprise initiatives in support of our Accelerate strategy to drive shareholder value through various projects and technical accounting consultations. Oversee Accounting & Control Standard maintenance and consultations to ensure compliance related to complex accounting matters and accounting standard updates. Frequent exposure to senior leaders within Tax, Corporate Finance, Treasury, and Global Accounting Operations (GAO), among others. Strengthening people management skills through day-to-day coaching and leadership of direct and indirect reports. Deepening accounting, control, and financial reporting technical expertise from both recurring and nonrecurring activities. Leading process improvement in support of our continuous optimization of our global operating model to achieve best-in-class processes and results. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Operational Leadership Lead intercompany capital and equity transaction accounting related to corporate structure optimization projects; partner closely with the General Mills Tax and Treasury teams as well as broader GAO teams to support key initiatives in an accurate and timely manner. Lead global complex accounting consultations, responsible for adhering to GMI's Accounting & Control Standards and US GAAP. This includes consultations related to key enterprise initiatives, such as M&A projects. Oversee the accounting results related to intercompany accounting and holding company activities, including certain statutory reporting support. Oversight includes monitoring and review of results completed by outsourced partners and centers of excellence to ensure processes accurately meet GAO and business partner needs. Maintain GMI's Accounting & Control Standards for updates related to operational changes and Accounting Standard Updates. Lead GMI's implementation of Accounting Standard Updates through partnerships with internal and external stakeholders. Lead process improvement in support of our global operating model. Ensure the right work is performed at the right place to support the model. Proactively identify where work can be automated, standardized, and centralized to further streamline processes, strengthen financial controls, and most effectively support our key business partners. Collaborate with other GMI functions to improve the processes that interact with accounting; and increase results through strong relationships. Contribute to quarterly SEC filings and related external reporting for relevant subject matter. St ategic/Organizational Leadership Help to build deep functional and technical excellence within the GAO and broader GMI Finance function on accounting and controls competencies. Contribute to GMI Finance Learning & Development initiatives including education and training on GMI Accounting & Control Standards and other accounting-related subject matter. Partner with GAO teams to assess the impacts of changing business activities to accounting processes, reporting processes and controls, and contribute to adequate solutions to meet business needs. Collaborate cross-functionally in Finance on topics critical to company strategy and results. Primary cross-functional partners include Corporate Finance, Investor Relations, M&A, and Tax in addition to frequent collaboration with GAO business partners across regional controllership teams. Lead process and governance excellence in our dynamic global accounting & controls environment. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors Degree in Accounting with 5 years or more of relevant experience Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Certification Aptitude for broad US GAAP subject matter including codification research and documentation experience Results-oriented, proactive, agile Ability to develop and coach technical talent Process and process improvement-driven mindset Highly organized and able to manage and prioritize changing workload Ability to work with and influence different stakeholders English proficiency required PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Big Four public accounting firm or large global company experience Demonstrated leadership skills with proven expertise in supervising management and professional-level staff Creative, flexible, and strategic change-focused Master's in Accounting ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS: This role is a Minneapolis, MN based position, it is not remote eligible at this time. Salary Range The salary range for this position is $106800.00 - $160300.00 / Annually. At General Mills we strive for each employee's pay at any point in their career to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role. The salary range for this role represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifications, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
