Xcel Energy Fleet Zero Emission Vehicle Consultant in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Position Summary

Manage Xcel Energy's Zero Emissions Vehicle (ZEV) projects of varying size and scope. Responsible for leading strategic initiatives to build out electric vehicle and alternative fuel (EV/AF) capabilities within Fleet. Manage ZEV projects including project scope, schedule, cost, and risk management. Partner within the Fleet group and across Supply Chain, Strategic Partnerships & Ventures, Finance, Tax, Legal, Property Services, and Facilities groups to agree upon project scopes, develop project schedules, provide project-level cost tracking, and deliver completed projects.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute detailed project plans to build out EV/AF capabilities within Fleet, including modernizing garage operations, managing tooling and diagnostics, managing charging infrastructure and network planning, and other projects as assigned.

  • Develop insights from research conducted on ZEV technologies (e.g., electric, hydrogen), and infrastructure to create executive level presentations and present findings to leadership to ensure best practices are considered when ZEV decisions are made.

  • Create new standard operating procedures and detailed business processes to support new ZEV capabilities in Fleet. Collaborate with the Fleet Regulatory team to document/review EV/AF regulatory requirements (e.g., licensing) and ensure compliance and ready for ZEV transformation. Build working relationships with EV/AF partners (e.g., upfitters and OEMs) to support designing and executing the ZEV transformation pilot programs.

  • Develop change management and ways of working documentation to support Fleet employees, operators, and Business Units during ZEV transition periods. Develop ZEV trainings and present trainings to Fleet Operations to ensure that mechanics are prepared with tooling (diagnostics), training, and safety knowledge/practices for the ZEV transformation.

  • Prepare communications to ensure Fleet and the wider organization is kept up to date on the ZEV transformation, including key dates, events, infrastructure changes, and pilots as appropriate.

  • Maintain knowledge of local/state/federal incentives for EV/AF transformation, monitor key dates, and ensure XE captures the full benefit of government incentives in transforming to a ZEV fleet.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree Business, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field.

  • Five years of experience in project management with a focus in business planning, fleet management, or EV/AF programs.

  • Knowledge of transformation process to move to EV/AF fleet vehicles including technical, legislative, supply chain, fleet, equipment, and infrastructure aspects of change.

  • Experience working with hybrids, EVs, electric charging infrastructure, and other alternative fueling technologies strongly preferred.

  • Experience in the automotive industry preferred.

  • Previous experience with data analysis within the utilities sector preferred.

  • Requires collaborating with and influencing others to drive change.

  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Up to 20% travel; driver's license required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven experience with R or Python for statistical analysis and data processing.

  • Proficiency in object-oriented programming.

  • Experience with geospatial analysis.

  • History applying machine learning or Econometric models.

Non-Bargaining

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $81,000.00 to $115,867.00 per year
