YMCA of the North Food Service Coordinator in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Job Description

The salary for this position starts at $15.67 hourly. We take into consideration an individual’s background and experience in determining salary; therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes a wide range of other benefits and earned time off that vary depending on part-time or full-time status.

  1. Job Summary:

    The Kitchen Coordinator serves healthy and nutritious meals for participants. The incumbent maintains appropriate health standards, safety, cleanliness and adequate food supply levels. The incumbent maintains CACFP and MDH expectations.

  2. Essential Functions:

    · Serves healthy and nutritious meals for participants and groups; food is prepared & delivered by catering company.

    · Participates in the planning of menus which meet necessary nutrition and dietary needs.

    · Updates allergy, intolerance & parent preference charts for classrooms and kitchen.

    · Maintains safety and cleanliness standards in the kitchen areas.

    · Assists with the purchasing and inventory of food supplies as needed.

    · Maintains CACFP and Minnesota Department of Health Licensing records for meals and snacks.

    · May be asked to support classroom staff by being in ratio

    · Attend monthly team member meetings and in service trainings

  3. Relationships:

    This position reports to the Child Care Program Director. The incumbent regularly interacts with participants, general public, staff, and volunteers.

  4. Qualifications:

Required:

· Minimum age of 18

· Possessor ability to obtain Food Safe Certification by the county Public Health Department.

· Knowledge of kitchen operating procedures and food handling and storage

· Effective interpersonal communication skills

· Ability and desire to work with child care staff and other young people.

· Knowledge of kitchen operating procedures and food handling and storage.

· Dedication to the philosophy and mission of the YMCA programs.

Preferred:

· Education/training in nutrition

· Minimum of one (1) year of experience in food preparation

· Ability to obtain Minnesota DHS Rule 3 or Wisconsin HFS 46 qualifications, including yearly in service requirements.

  1. Work Conditions:

    · Requires lifting up to 50 pounds

    · Requires ability to safely operate all necessary kitchen equipment and cleaning supplies. (The incumbent utilizes equipment which can be potentially dangerous to include knives, warmers, dishwasher, and cleaning chemicals)

    · Ability to stand for long periods of time

    · Self-directed individual

    · Ability to travel to other branches and programs

    · Must be flexible to work varying hours to meet the needs of the site
