This announcement will be used to fill a full-time, evening Food Service Worker vacancies at the Minnesota Veterans Home (MVH) - Minneapolis. The work schedule will include at least 80 hours per 2-week pay period and may include additional work hours, based on business needs. The position is initially eligible for full employer contribution towards health and dental insurance benefits.
** This is an evening position, work hours are 11:15 am-7:45 pm.
As a Food Service worker for the MVH-Minneapolis, you will perform routine tasks involved in food preparation, food service, dishwashing, and cleaning the food service area. Work involves following instructions and established procedures. Cooking is done on a level requiring no more than household experience and may extend to short order cooking in a snack bar.
Responsibilities include:
Prepare small quantities of food for special diets.
Dish up food, place dishes on carts, move carts, and serve food.
Peel vegetables, make toast and coffee, and perform simple cooking tasks.
Serve portions on a cafeteria line; wait on tables; and wash dishes and utensils.
Sweep, scrub, and mop floors.
Clean walls, cupboards, and furniture.
Operate a dishwashing machine.
Move food between storerooms, kitchen and serving areas.
Observe standard sanitation and safety standards.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge of:
Materials and methods used in preparing food.
Care and use of cooking utensils and equipment.
Food values and nutrition.
Ability To:
Perform simple cooking on a large scale.
Plan and prepare small meals on a household scale.
Perform simple cleaning and food service tasks.
Follow instructions.
